3 years at 2M per. Fantastic deal for the Canes. - Tojo.
Geez I hope JR was going hard after him. That is a great deal. |

We would still need to move another roster player regardless if he comes in and some reports are that the staff has been frustrated with ZAR. - Rinosaur
If that's the case, you trade ZAR for something of value, not give Tampa an extra cheap player for a guy that just cleared waivers today. (Note: not that I'm trading ZAR).
If hypothetically you trade with Tampa for Johnson, they have to add.
EDIT: and I know, I suggest 2 other players who make more and do less than ZAR: Sceviour and Riikola. |

Yeah, I don’t see that working at all. I get what you’re saying, but it’s just not feasible and a bad idea. There are no players of significant cap you have to move out. I’d be totally fine with Scevior, but moving Riikola is a mistake. If POJ doesn’t prove ready and there’s an injury there’s a huge problem, so your idea is pretty bad for the Pens.
If they can move ZAR and Scevior then it can work.
EDIT: I also don’t care if he cleared waivers. The Pens need an upgrade and if it takes ZAR then you don’t squabble about irrelevant value. Who cares? Mediocre player out, good player in. |

Rob Rossi
@Real_RobRossi
Level 1:
RW Anthony Angello gets 2 years/$1.45 million. Counts $725K against cap. Penguins have about $1.8M in free space. Have 24 players for 23-man roster: 15 forwards, 7 defensemen, 2 goalies. (LW Zach Aston-Reese out until at least mid-February; left shoulder.)
Didn’t realize he was going to be out this long. I thought it was just January. |

Idk I have heard quite the opposite on ZAR. We are also talking about a 4th line player.
Most talk about how terrible ZAR is then come up with a trade where he has value.
I think we get a few more value players. Overall our team looks pretty good. |

It was either Rossi or Yohe who said some of the staff and organization have been frustrated with ZAR in terms of playing like he doesn’t care at times.

My plan is to not make this trade. I was critiquing you giving up a player that has value for a guy who you could have just had for free today. You're basically giving away ZAR in a trade where it's the other team needs to add value. It's a waste of assets because he's not helping you make the trade.
It's the second day of free agency, you can replace Riikola for cheaper. Unlike ZAR he's not a starter and makes more. Same with Sceviour. But, remove Riikola since that's just a side discussion. |

Riikola makes $1.1M and is good. You’re going to replace him and maybe save $200/$300K? Seems silly.
Also, again, who cares if you’re giving away ZAR? Yeah, I don’t like him that much, but you’re seriously overvaluing him.
It’s not a waste of an asset if you’re bringing in a player that significantly improve this team. Weird logic on your part. |

You need to step back a second because you are making this way too much about how you want to move ZAR. I disagree with you on that, but that has very little to do with why I hate your proposal, though it makes zero sense to trade him before Sceviour.
We could have had Johnson for free today. Any team could. He has negative value at that cap hit. If you're not asking Tampa to do you a favor for taking his contract, it's not getting the value you should. At least try and get Tampa to retain 1M. Or get a draft pick back. |

Frustrating to see some really good players going on cheap deals and we are only signing AHLers. Hoping JR has something planned... |
|
|
|
From the DK article about speaking to JR. He was looking for a depth goalie and a RHD. He said he wasn't going to make any moves to the pro roster for 2 days. He did elude if at all though. He seems very happy with the 3rd line. He reports he was happy with Erod.
JR report on ERod. "He worked his way back to us at a number we could fit into our cap, so we were happy about that". - 123Kid
Maybe he is going for an islanders type line. Hard working blue collar guys. Should make someone happy here lol |

Yeah there were some good deals out there. And the more that sign the better the deals get I imagine. |

Yep. This means they are skipping on Hall now but watch them go for Petro... |

Is Saad still good? Has had down years since his return to Chicago. Don’t know anything about Zadorov, but maybe Byram is ready? |

If the Pens got him for nothing, they’d still have to move about $2.5M out, so who cares how Scevior and ZAR are shipped out?
Maybe you’d get them to retain a little.
Regardless, moving Riikola is a very bad idea until we at least know if POJ is ready. |

I wonder if JR was just hasty and didn’t wait things out. Seems like he’s missing out on so much the Pens could have afforded. |

The reason Johnson has had no takers is because he is not worth $5M per year, definitely not for 4 more years. They will need to retain at least a mil per year to get a taker. |

I heard that he was gonna miss at least 2 months of next season. But that's when they we're proposed to start in December. So I guess that would be February. |

I would assume 2 million per year. He isn't the same player he once was. Plus I assume now that he cleared waivers they are gonna have to really make a deal worthwhile for someone to take him. They also have to make other deals. The GM kinda hurt himself by not buying anyone out. |

We will have 2 hard working blue collar lines and two lines which are a danger to score. So hopefully our bottom lines can wear teams down. |

Since the pens have a solid defensive center in Jankowski, what about trying to get Athanasiou to add some offense on the 3rd line? McCann-Jankowski-Athanasiou |
