Hey RW

Anything on "Tampa Bay not honouring the NTC negotiated in good faith by Tyler Johnson"?

You'd think your holier than though attitude you used to criticize GMJR for trading Hornqvist would suggest they they be forced to trade or let go of their RFA's rather than trade a player with a NTC

Notice ever move other teams make, RW is thrilled with them?

What this team needs and what Rutherford wants don’t always align. Yohe was still talking about Rutherford wanting an RD as soon as yesterday. JR’s comments about the Jankowski and Rodrigues signings solidifying the 3rd line don’t bode well. I don’t think we should expect anything good in the coming days.

(frank)ing Pray Poulin is ready, is basically all we have going for us for the third line lol

Yeah at this point Johnson is going for pucks if he’s moved at all. What a weird year. Feel like any other year Johnson’s contract shouldn’t be this impossible to move given that he’s a pretty good player from an on ice perspective.
- Victoro311

Yeah new world with a flat cap until who knows when. Johnson is useful, but it's not a great contract. Still, usually a team desperate for a center would take him.

GMJR's moves were uninspiring, but at least they have some breathing room. Maybe the better play is to let that cap space accumulate for the deadline. In the meantime, see if they have anything with their reclamation projects and prospects.

This and they have to leave room for Marino next year. They don't currently have anyone coming off the books to free up cap

After some of his UFA signings from before (not just Johnson but remember Matt Hunwick ) playing it safe is the right thing to do. I think Jankowski could have some up side but if if nothing works out, there is no risk to any of these signings. First couple of days of UFA can bury a team for a while with bad contracts, Pens did alright!

Stecher and Tanev signed already, so you really think he is? We need a legit forward to play with McCann.
- 668710

From the DK article about speaking to JR. He was looking for a depth goalie and a RHD. He said he wasn't going to make any moves to the pro roster for 2 days. He did elude if at all though. He seems very happy with the 3rd line. He reports he was happy with Erod.

JR report on ERod. "He worked his way back to us at a number we could fit into our cap, so we were happy about that".

Most people here weren't worried any time I brought that up. I think that's part of why they retained on Bjugstad instead of buying him out.

If I had to guess, next year is when they trade a LD like Pettersson to open space for Marino. Hopefully by then either Matheson has shown he's ready or POJ.

I think Pettersson goes to Seattle and POJ becomes our 3rd pairing D

So, you want to leave Pettersson exposed? A guy who will still only be 25 at the time of the expansion draft making just over $4 million for another four years!

How about a player who will be 34 at the same time and be a UFA the following season?

Matheson would make more sense to me if possible, though I agree about POJ. They could probably just trade Pettersson for something of value and lose a forward.

I'm not understanding. Seems you said we should give them a 2nd and a roster player for a guy we or any team could have had on waivers for free.
- Tojo.

Well, we would need to shed salary. Remove the 2nd.

I think that was the motivation to move Hornqvist for him. I imagine he asked Seattle about Hornqvist and they said no, and hopefully Matheson proves capable enough to to get picked by them next year.

I know you dislike ZAR, but you're not shedding much salary trading him. Even a league minimum player only saves 300k. And he's actually useful and has positive trade value. Would have made more sense for Sceviour, or even Riikola who makes more and has a lesser role.

The point is Tampa gave every team in the league a chance to take Johnson for free and they all said no. They have to add the sweetener to any team trading for him.

We would still need to move another roster player regardless if he comes in and some reports are that the staff has been frustrated with ZAR.
