With money being tight around the league he probably wants to play with a player that will get him payed so he can get that long term next year from a different organization

He's probably going to use us but it be exciting here

- GERBE!!!75PTS

Correct. A two year deal in a flat cap gets him to UFA again after Seattle joins. Then the league should be back to normal and more revenue. Which means a higher cap

I would guess it would be Miller based on their love for Risto and extending Montour rather than trading his rights.
- Mentalorgasm5

I mean Montour avoiding arbitration and only signing a one year deal makes that contract tradable.

I could see them dealing both Montour and Miller if it came to it.

Fair enough- who knows really. We’ll see what he gets. I bet it’s 3 or less but I could be way off base.
- turbo044

He's a one way offensive defenseman, which means he better have a quality defense partner.

Does such a thing currently exist on the right side on the Sabres currently? I don't think it does.

I'll ask again: Will he be centering 2 players that are remotely of the talent and ability level of Laine and Ehlers?

We already know the answer: No.

- kingcong39

No, He will not. My point is .... he is not nearly as terrible as everyone is making him out to be.

He is no different production wise when compared to everyone favorites Jesper Fast and Craig Smith.

We didnt swing and miss out and miss on GREAT amazing players.

If people still question hall coming here the jet has never been to Kingston ever

So that's some hope

Sure, if you only care about points. If you look into and care about everything else a player can do in a positive manner on the ice, then Fast and Smith are MUCH better than Eakin.

Yep- Miller was good last year but Ralph has him sit for extended periods of time for some reason?? Problem is who’s going to take on his 3.875 salary?? May have to be a trade with equal salary coming back. Miller to a team wi Ty a surplus of LHD, with a LHD coming back would be ideal

It makes perfect sense for a player that wants to get payed

Jack gets playoffs we get a fun year

So he produced 0 points centering 2 players similar in quality to who he likely be centering on the Sabres? Sounds promising.
- kingcong39

And forcing Craig Smith with 31 points .....to play as our 2nd line Right winger sounds promising too. Forcing a player to play outside his means has worked for the sabres so well.

See Leino...... see Johansson... and many other examples.

Vancouver and Colorado were both rumoured to be in on Barrie.

Could possibly be a move there for Montour or Miller.

Oh okay. I did not know that.

I would be pretty shocked and in awe if we landed Hall.

Anyone saying we dont need him because he is a LW is nuts.

Hall
Skinner
Olofsson

in the top 9 would be crazy, or flip one to the RW. Someone has to be comfortable playing the wing off hand.

- Mentalorgasm5

Oloffson plays the right wing on the pp?

I think he's flexible.

Hall would be an outstanding splash, bring the fans around move.

Hall - eichel - oloffson
Skinner - stahl - sam
Girgs- eakin - cozens
Mitts - lazar - Okposo

I'm also confused: Fast and Smith don't need to be on a line with other top players to produce, but Eakin does. Eakin will be on a line with far from top players on the Sabres.

Why is he a good option again considering the above?

Could have a fun two years. It would move the needle at least. I just don’t see it happening.

BUT IF IT DOES:

Hall Eichel Reinhart
Skinner Staal Cozens
Olofsson Eakins Thompson
Girgensons Lazar Okposo

I’d move Montour with Casey plus a pick if needed for Kuemper or even better Korpisalo

It’s much better on paper...

Smith is light years better than Leino and Johansson, but who says Smith would've had to be on the 2nd line?

-that's Terry's jet
-

-he is the only player from there that is a ufa

-The jet has never been to Kingston every

Just way too many coincidences in my opinion

Fast ...and smith ....GENERATE 30 POINTSSSSSS 30 freaking points. They arent lighting up the world with all the GENERATING they do and drive play.

And Eakins right now, I have no idea what the 3rd line is going to look like. So that is To be determined.

Problem is Girgensons at 2.2 and Eakins at 2.25.

If we were spending 2 mil plus, Would have tried to overbid the canes and get Fast for 2.5-2.75 (he signed for 2).

Turris at 1.65
Merril at 965k

or they could have got players near, if not better than Eakin and Girgensons for less.

I dont get what they are doing right now.

- Mentalorgasm5

1. Grit
2. Guys that like buffalo
3. Guys krueger coached
4. Cheap end talent
5. Top end talent (hopefully)

I think sam probably gets a cheap 1 or 2 year deal or he's moved if they really spend.

Fast and Smith are also very good defensively driving play while Eakin is not. That matters too?

Having Montour signed gives a team a cap number instead of worrying about negotiations and arbitration

I think joker would be pretty good with him?? I’d be interested in seeing Gustafson analytical charts. I thought he was decent defensively?

We all hope Eakin will be good.

I get that you are leaning on that, but all I'm attempting to do is share that there's a strong likelihood he won't be good based on all the data I have access to, which is much, much more than points.
