From what I heard, they are trying to add some high end talent, and back fill the rest with low cost contacts.

The analytic approach seems to be a myth.

Hall = Buffalo is still alive
2 years 15.75 million

The market is going to be really slow for long term free agents. The pandemic is gonna scare management from long term guys, in my opinion

$1.4M seems pretty low for Larsson on a 2 year deal?

$1M in actual salary this upcoming season seems pretty low for Fast on a 3 year $2M per cap hit deal?

This post is for everyone freaking out .........

Jesper Fast - Good analytics and everyone wanted him. This past year, 29 points and the year prior in a full season ........ 20 points.

Craig Smith - Good analytics and everyone against wanted. This past year, 31 points!! The prior year, a MASSSSIVE 20 point season.

Cody Eatkin - 15 points in 49 games this past year. Once he was traded to the Jets and given proper playing time. He has 5 points in 8 games and a plus 6. His prior season he had 41 points.

I would love to see the analytics break of Eakins games with the Jets and what line he was on.

My overall point is that everyone is female dogging EVERY single move we made. We are complaining about 20- 30 point players.

Pump the brakes on these players.......

Don’t forget Eakins 0 points in 4 playoff games though

I think everyone will be excited if we get Hall. I’ll call it 2/10 in the optimistic scale

Again, you are complaining about Girgs making 200 K more. That is a pathetic argument. 200,000 I mean come on. That is petty. Girgensons is always so your swiss army knife. He can play center and wing. And if you have injuries for a short period of time play up in the line up.

Craig smith drove in 31 points ...... he didnt drive in 50 or 60 points.

See ... stop making these analytics guys brain wash you into thinking they are something they arent.

I believe in analytics too .... but female dogging about a 20-30 points players is a waste of time.

Eakins ... tell me who he played with on the Jets and how he went 5 points in 8 games and a plus 6. vs on vegas 41 games 10 points -6.

Analytics dont tell the whole story.

Again, you are complaining about a 20 - 30 point player. Craig Smith IS / has been a 3rd liner his entire career.

I responded to your post asking about Eakin.

He played with two top end wingers. Is he playing with anybody like that on Buffalo? No.

Gustafsson is projected to get at least $5M on his upcoming deal.

Not sure if you saw my response earlier to your post about him.

$5m in this market when all “non-elites” are
Taking pay cuts? He’s coming off being paid $1.2 million last year. Krug only got 6.5 no way he gets 5. The well is running dry already with a lot of teams

Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t he not get along with McJesus and didn’t play all that well together? I could be wrong but I thought that’s why Edm moved him

Eakin centered Ehlers and Laine during his short time with Winnipeg. Makes sense that he'd have 4 assists playing with those two.
- kingcong39

You are correct!!! So when given an opportunity to play with good players. He cashed in with 5 points in 8 games and a plus 6.

You asked and I shared the data I have, including what kind of player he is.

That's all I can do.

According to CapFriendly, the Sabres are at $59.3m in Salary, leaving between $10.7 and $15.7 depending on the Internal Budget of $70m - $75m.

That includes cash payments of $1.65 to Ehrhoff and Hogson.
It also excludes Reinhart, Ullmak and Olofsson...$7+3.5+2.75 = $13.25.
That brings them to about $72.55m, right in the middle of their rumored Budget range...$70.9 if they limit the salary/cash out to rostered players.

Looks like they could be done, especially when the Bonus Overage from last year is factored in also.
Assume that money in/money out Trades are likely their remaining moves.
We can count Risto out and likely Monte out after his signing. Trade bait is running on low.

Who speculated A short term deal 2 years 15m??He’s coming off $6m per.

All this talk of an internal cap BUT pegs loves his stars and the internal cap would go out the door if he could land Hall

I'll ask again: Will he be centering 2 players that are remotely of the talent and ability level of Laine and Ehlers?

We already know the answer: No.

Reinharts not getting 7 not is ullmark getting 3. Plus one of our RHD will likely be traded saving 3.875, 3.75 or 5.4

Problem is Girgensons at 2.2 and Eakins at 2.25.

If we were spending 2 mil plus, Would have tried to overbid the canes and get Fast for 2.5-2.75 (he signed for 2).

Turris at 1.65
Merril at 965k

or they could have got players near, if not better than Eakin and Girgensons for less.

I dont get what they are doing right now.

With money being tight around the league he probably wants to play with a player that will get him payed so he can get that long term next year from a different organization

He's probably going to use us but it be exciting here

I would guess it would be Miller based on their love for Risto and extending Montour rather than trading his rights.

Fair enough- who knows really. We’ll see what he gets. I bet it’s 3 or less but I could be way off base.

So he produced 0 points centering 2 players similar in quality to who he likely be centering on the Sabres? Sounds promising.
