I disagree.

They need scoring.

UPL played 10 games.

- Powerslave

UPL is not a sure thing by any means
Goaltending is also a huge issue with us

And this would’ve been an additional 1st,
right?
So we’d have had Quinn, + another pick if we’d have traded up in the scenario proposed

I said 40 point guys make 4 million these days. I didn’t say an arbitrator would award him that.

Like I’ve been saying. Kahun at $2.75-$3 million is worth it since he’s a 40 point guy and there are 40 point players making $4 million.

- Stripes77

Fair enough, sorry if I misunderstood.

I thought you were at 3.5 million. Maybe 4 with kahun?

The arbitration is speculation, but the Sabres and I, assumed he would get too much.

Others touched on it yesterday

Because this happens with multiple prospects every single year. The point is that a guy drafted in the 20’s has almost the exact same chance at success as a guy picked at 34 or even 38. Just stay where you are and don’t waste picks.

Moving into the top 10-15 is another story

- sbroads24

I think you missed the point of his guy. And picks 10-15 each year are kinda all over the board on success as well. I understand your philosophy of just sitting back and taking who falls, and like I said before, teams that have been successful have more of an ability to do that then ones that haven't. It's gonna take some bold moves to finally pull us out of the gutter. There's a chance that whoever was taken at 38/39 will be a solid player, and there's a chance that JJP will be better or worse. Having the stones to make that call isn't a bad thing if they really believe in the guy.

Then proceeded to hand Girgensons too much.

2.3 million minimum

What do most 3rd line, 7 year veteran nhl players go for?

Either ralph is gonna rotate these guys like the Bill's defensive line or girgs is gonna girg on line 3.

Ask homie,

Just under 14 minutes a game, is 3rd line time right?

- Boss34

How many teams think Girgensons is anything but a 4th line player? You'll only need one guess.

Tobias Reider and Matt Irwin.

We’re getting super tough to play against with those mammoths

- sbroads24

I mean, girgs has played with eichel in the past?

Girgs keeps moving up lines by the signing.

Reider is Ralph's sons friend
Matt Irvin sounds like a golfers name

I thought this was covered a few pages ago

Maybe they do %50 of what kahun was doing for %25 the cost?

He's a 3rd line winger, so it's a value signing.

More of my favorite Sabres motto: buy high and sell low.

If you're a good organization you have more than one guy.

I get it. They ranked him high. It rarely pans out to be good value in the end

The girgs contract is a solid contract.

Feel free to bookmark this page.

If they play 82 games , girgs gets 10 goals / 20 points

Let me get this straight

2.2 mil = defensively responsible 20 point player

However.... defensively responsible 40 point player in Kahun isn't worth 3.5-4mil that he might get (he wouldn't of) in arb?

Girgs played well last season.

What am I missing? Did you not think he played well under Ralph? 12 goals?

There are so many other issues than girgs at 2.2

He's an nhl and chose to sign in buffalo.

Kahun though, put him on the second line?

I dont understand the kahun love ?
Nor the ror hate
Nor the tyler myers love?
Nor the girgensons hate?

Agree to disagree.
4 teams in 3 years
1 team for 10 years maybe

It's not just points. It's being a good teammate. It's being a hard worker.

I like girgensons, I never felt like he has an off shift.

I think it would have been smart to make a splash before FA like get a goalie or another good player they need before to show players they are serious about winning. Losing and Buffalo do not seem to attract UFA's. Oh well, they should build by trade and the draft anyway. What FA have we not regretted anyway? There are some still out there so we will see.

For what it's worth, I hear the Sabres are putting together a good offer for Taylor Hall.

Makes sense, as most can see this team is being built by Ralph. Who coached Hall in Edmonton

They just signed Ralph's sons friend
Resigned gurgs who Ralph likes
Lazar is a ralph guy
Tall tage???

*not sure if hall signed anywhere yet ?

- Boss34

I can't imagine Hall signing here, and if he did; a) it would likely be a massive overpayment ala Skinner's deal, and b) I would question their motivation in doing g so...is it purely a money grab.
Another player comes to Buffalo for the money and plays half-assed for 6 or 7 years.

He's been here 7 years.
Their average finish in those years is probably something like 26th.

It isn't all on Larry, but he certainly isn't a key piece...why give him a $500k raise (~30%) in a flat Cap Era when lean, efficient, economic and cheap are their buzzwords? That signi g makes zero, zip, zilch sense.

But, whatever.

So in those 6 games you like to cite that Kahun has been here for, you’ve totally noticed him being a bad teammate, taking shifts off, and not working hard?

Just call it like it is, you are up Adams and the Pegula’s ass and will defend whatever they do.

Worth remembering that the legal tampering period is no more. Before this season, July 1 was really Day 6 of free agency for all intents and purposes. This year, today is *supposed* to be the first day teams and UFAs got to talk. Given the unusual economics this offseason, I am not really surprised the majority of the impact UFAs haven't signed yet.

Is Kahun a “difference maker” in your opinion?
Nice player i guess,
but you’re really overdoing his loss
