He collapsed two years in a row. Is it a workload thing? Conditioning? I believe I saw that early on, Hutton was saving well beyond expectation, and once he settled in to at or lower, his GAA collapsed.
- TheSabresTaco

He’s a career backup and not a starter. Left as the backup he will be more than adequate. If there’s any extra money bring in someone like Martin or Reeves.

when the owners suck, they deserve all the bashing they get

when they land the best free agent, by a mile
they deserve some slack and I will continue to cut them slack for the remainder of the offseason

it was a bold move, and clearly shows dedication toward icing a winning team when hockey resumes

I heard Calgary asked for that Zamboni when they're done with it at Bill Gray's

that is why i want an upgrade.. BUT (and its a Kardashian butt) if ullmark can be a true starter and he is just the backup, could he be alright? i really don't want to find out because thats too many ifs and butts

He was good when games and goals count at 50%.
Once the games and goals counted at full value he began go decline until when they counted at 2x...then he shatt the bed.
Purely pressure and stress related.

K-squared needs to ride him early, then trade him in early Feb.

K2.. or 2K

I don't know if it's increased pressure, I don't really buy into that. I think analytics showed the Sabres skaters were basically the same throughout and that they were riding excellent goalie play. Unmaintainable. Simply speaking, we have, maybe, average goalies as a duo. Ullmark is actually a pretty good EV goalie. PK, high danger, he's well below average.

sabres got their best winger since mogilny, no offense to skinner, vanek or anyone else

this is going to be a top 5 scoring team

if they keep hutton, it's because of what he did early in the last 2 seasons

relax we have something good happening for once in sabre land

- homiedclown

I really dont like hutton ..... his game fades way way too quickly. He gets off to a hot start and fizzles.

If we traded for a new goalie ..... i would feel 1000000x better. I think if you had to power rank team needs right now, goalie would be number 1 by a mile.

Yesterday, Scott Wheeler of The Atlantic published his ranking of Top Prospects NOT yet in the NHL...
The 1st 7 were 2020 draft choices; including Rossi at #3.
Cozens, who was ranked 1st just a couple months ago, fell to 8th
Jack Quinn was ranked.....

48th.

Had this discussion already somewhere else.

-"Prospect" ranks mean nothing. We all saw where Mitts was ranked. We all saw that Zacha was way higher than Point. And we also saw Justin Bailey ranked leagues ahead of Victor Olofsson.

-Wheeler even insinuates that Quinn has a ton of room to grow. I'd rather pick the guy who isn't a flashy 18 year old and becomes an allstar, than the flashy 18 year old who tops out at 2C. In general, not saying that happens here, just saying, Prospect rankings are the biggest grain of salt in hockey besides tiny sample sizes.

And he readily admitted to recency bias.

Hutton is seeing in 4 dimensions currently. They need to get his eyes back attuned to the earthly realm.

Honestly I’d rather have him as a 6/7 than Irwin, or playing a RD at LD.

They also shouldn’t sit guys like Miller

- sbroads24

absolutely agreed. At least one of Miller, Montour and Risto has to go and ideally we could trade for a middle 6 LHD. Irwon should be the 7th and only the 7th.

Trade away Montour and Miller
Trade for Hanifan and Kuemper

Result: Playoffs with a possibility for a deep playoff run

Again, I remember the Sabres winning the prospects ranking championships every off season yet losing the Traverse City tournament because we saw how accurate those rankings were.

I'm interested in wins on ice, not winning over talking heads hearts.

I didn’t say to spend $8mil on a goalie
But we do ABSOLUTELY need an upgrade from Hutton

We need good goaltending, not sh!tty goaltending
It’s that simple

- jdfitz77

Yep Kuemper so obvious it's ridiculous

2 years left on his contract at a reasonable $4.5 per
2 years from now UPL should be ready
ARI above the cap and way above their self-imposed cap
Trade them Mitttlestadt and see if they'll take Hutton with us retaining half
Trade away a RHD for our own cap purposes

Hopefully soon we'll have a cute nickname for the Krueger/Adams combo.

Kradams?

Kruever?

Ralphams?

Yeah sure looks like Ralph and adams are trying to follow the "culture" thing that McBeane has done

So you shed 1.4 and bring on 4.5, adding 5.9 to the cap. That's Reinhart's contract. As the roster stands today, signing Reinhart, Olofsson and Ullmark leaves approximately 1-2M in space.

This suggested trade does not work without losing Reinhart or Ristolainen.

JBB continues to work to rectify Tampa's Cap situation...needing to clear space, estimated at about $10m, to resign Sergachev, Cirelli, and Cernak...Nothing new there.

As estimated by The Athletic..
- Sergachev: Three years, $5.25 million AAV
- Cirelli: Two years, $3.7 million AAV
- Cernak: Two years, $2.4 million AAV

K2 should Offer Sheet Cirelli at $4.3m, then Cernak at $3.5m to chew up as much space as possible. Then go for the kill on Sergachev.

Won't happen, but fun to think about squeezing your divisional competition...force them to make another unwanted move.
