Time to be bold and take adavantage of a team struggling financially.
Az,
-$2.2m over Cap and $15-$17m over Internal Budget
-Good young talent with high contracts
- No 1st in 2021

So
Stephan (6.5), Dvorak (4.45), Hjarlmsson (5.0), Chychrun (4.6), Kuemper (4.5) = $25.05m
For
Hutton (2.75), Eatkin ($2.25), Mitts (0.9m?), Monte (3.85), Risto (5.4), 2021-1st = $15.15m

SABRES would need to agree to contract with Olofsson and Reinhart, AND TRADE THEM.
(Target Detroit and NJ)

Skinner - Eichel - Dvorak
Hall - Staal - Cozens
Girgs - Stephan - Tage
Reider - Lazar - Okposo

Dahlin Hjarlmsson
Chychrun - Joker
McCabe - Miller
Borgen

Kuemper
Ullmark

- IonSabres

Nice thoughts, but it’s not Xbox dude
That would be an amazing trade

That 3rd line looks ugly though

He righted his ship somewhat in the AHL. I saw his star potential chart, he's climbing, rather than falling, based on last season at least.

I’m still hopeful,
but it’s fair to question what we’ve got with him at this point

I heard Hall on the instigators talking about this. He basically said that Ralph told him dont worry so much about where you'll play on the powerplay as much as getting the 5 best PP guys out there.

You could be right though. Maybe Staal and Olofsson are on PP2. Wouldnt suck to have 2 good units

- jcragcrumple

I also want staal in the first PP. Again, I could be wrong. But YouTube his goals also. He has a good net front presence and scored a lot of garbage goals. Like goals in the front or rebounds.

I think he can do a much better job than Sam in front. He also has a massive reach

1st INT was right off Robert's back shoulder. Got both hands on it - a routine catch for an average WR. Not Josh's best catch but there's a reason Roberts is our 6th receiver. Robert's catch along the sidelines on the next drive (a throw one QB in the league could have made btw) was a much tougher catch
- turbo044

If Josh puts that in front of him he’s still running right now.

I put that INT on the both of them.

You’d like to see Roberts make that play, and a better receiver does. However he was pretty open and the ball was put behind him.

does that push sam to the front of the net on PP2.. we could have two legit PP units this year.. we won't have to see a larry on the PP unless we have injuries.

Yeah I want to watch that

I heard Marty Biron make the point that now they have enough fire power to ice (on paper) two good units. There won't be situations where Eichel is coming off a 45 second shift and has to stay out on the ice for 2 more minutes on the powerplay because your other unit consists of Vesey, Sheary and Erod

PP1
Jack, Olofsson & Dahlin in their usual spots
Hall in the slot
Sam or Staal in front

That’s my guess as to how we’ll try things at first
Just have to see how it goes

And that still leaves us some talent for PP2
Sam or Staal, plus Cozens for sure
Risto & Miller are at least “ok” point men
Montour too, maybe Jokiharju?
Okposo can play in front also
Maybe Tage can even get his shot off?
Mitts also has loads of offensive talent

Lots of options

Maybe the Sabres should consider selling high on Olofsson.

He could be a one-trick pony and/or a one-hit wonder.

Would hate to have to pay him and then find that out.

whats the market on him though.. are we getting the perceived value on him with how nervous people are about money?

Yep - for instance your RB could get a DWI. Denver is a hot mess this year

Bridge deal then
But how many rookies shoot like him & then suck
I’d lock him up long term at a reasonable salary if possible

Trade deadline at best, my guess. I think we may be done with roster moves except trading away Miller

I don’t think he leaves Boston. He’s pretty well rooted. He has a big real estate business there.

Our goalie situation would look really good in the coming years:

Ullmark/Hutton
Peterson/Jonas
UPL/Other guy I'm blanking

Get rid of Hutton and see which cream rises to the top.

This is what I don’t get. The goalie plays hurt and they all know it. When it’s all said and done the goalie gets blamed for the bad season. Where were these other standout goalies while this was going on?
Sorry but it just doesn’t make sense. The doctors don’t lie so how can this happen?
