With three first round picks, it was really surprising that NJ didn’t take a chance on Hendrix Lapierre with their last pick.

I was certain they were getting him after the Rangers traded up and didn’t draft him.

Happy with the Flyers pick...all this talk of his flaws from guys who have never seen him play? (frank)ing laughable. The Flyer scouts had a ton of looks at this kid and as the year went on his stock rose. Barrie is 45 minutes up the road from Toronto, so it’s not like he wasn’t constantly having to pass the smell test. That tells me the kid is growing and getting better as he goes. A goal scorer shoot first guy? Talk about an absolute need for the Flyers.

Would like to move Ghost for a 2nd today and grab Kleven. Then have room to go after Krug.
- hereticpride

Krug really doesn’t fill the hole. He would make this team better but we not where we need it most. Gotta look at Nisky’s role. At least in my opinion.

If y'all want to geek out on some of the work Foerster's been doing in the offseason to improve his stride, this thread is fun: https://twitter.com/Paul_...tatus/1303487030765260800 (I now know I need to work on my 'toe flick' )

yes, and how stupid do those people look now?
- PLindbergh31

While I’m not a scout. Tyson was compared last night to Perry. I don’t remember a comparison to strome. What maybe maroon.

Seemed like a no brainer. They already got two higher 1st round picks. Why not got for him? Seems like the risk was worth the possible reward at that point.

Yeah. They kept panning to Hendrix during all the pick trading.

And about the knocks on these kids. They all have things they need to correct or develop before getting to the nhl. Or almost all.

A lot of rankings skewed this season. Lots of tournaments scouts attend were cancelled so the degree of evaluation should be more vast than normal. Anyone that says skating isn’t a major issue with ANY player is just delusional. There is NO comparison to past generations or players that can be able to be made. (Sorry bill) skill hockey iq hands hitting passing blah blah blah. In today’s nhl you have to be able to skate first and foremost. Can you get away with average skating? Sure ... for short periods of time. Can you have a few players on roster that excel in other areas but average skating? Sure. But overall if you don’t have a lot of team speed you can’t compete with the top teams in playoffs. The scary thing is they’re getting quicker and faster. Average skaters going way of doodoo bird just like fighters and heavy checkers. In regards to trees he’s part of the next wave So if skating is average it can work. Unless most of next wave is just average skaters. Time will tell with picks over next few years. I do love the speed picks of bee York O’Brien add that to Myers provy sanheim tk not bad start. Can throw brinks trees in there and be fine.

Thanks. The skewed rankings make sense for the reason you provide.

I noticed that there was a huge change in his point production from last year to this one. Thats good: it probably means he is still on the rise. In the same vein, the fact that the season was curtailed and he did not get a chance to compete in the playoffs also probably goes against him and it is possible his value would have risen.

Here is his record against the top 5 teams in the OHL this year:

67s: 3 G 1 G 1 A
Petes:2 G 0 G 1 A
LDN: 2 G: 1 G 1 A
SAG: 3 G 0 G 3 A
KIT: 2 G 2G 3 A

Total: 12 G 4 G 9 A

Would have preferred more goals for a guy coming in with sniping being his biggest forte, but fairly decent overall.

Did the Foerster pick put the Liane trade to rest?

Jets got an absolute steal on Perfetti. Wonder if that pushes them more to move Liane.

Did you work on remotely justifying your claim of Obamacare => high deductibles yet, or should we put it in the same category as QAnon and so on?

If we could get a 2nd or even a 3rd for ghost with zero salary retained as people suggest you run away with that. See if you can get shattenkirk on a 3 year 4 per deal. Hes shown what he can do with a high end defender on a top pairing. Him and provy would be damn good.

Your pipeline is now stronger with 2 high upside prospects in the 2nd round and shatty is a better replacement for niskanen.

No thanks. Would rather just keep Gostisbehere.

Farabee isn't especially fast. Not slow either, but speed isn't one of his outstanding traits.

How fast is Couturier? How fast in Ryan O'Reilly? How fast is Mark Stone? How fast is Jamie Benn, especially since the two core muscle surgeries? Even at his fastest, Giroux was more quick than fast. Mark Recchi was more quick than fast. Really depends on the player.

- bmeltzer

This guy Pavelski also seems slow to me.

Also Lindblom. Not slow slow, but below modern average.

Also, what the hell did Columbus do last night? Most scouts didn’t even have that guy in the top 100.
