He’s 5’11...which makes him 6 inches taller.

So why hasnt it worked for Edmonton who arguably have the 2 best players in the league?
- juiced

Or Toronto. And if it was that easy. Wouldn’t they have traded one of their great offensive players for a number 1 d man.

I would do the trade but you would not have a better team if you didnt have a plan to replace Povy and have a plan to deal with the CAP. The D right now without Provy would look more like an AHL D squad

Think big man.

Since we are just shooting the breeze, here is a blueprint. Don't critique individual trades and get hung up on details. I am not sold on them -some variations would work as well.

Look at the finished product.

In below, + is salary gained, - is salary deficit from trade, all differences are approximate.

Provorov+Frost+Brink+2nd for Eichel. (-1.9)

JVR + 1 m retained to a team that needs scoring (Columbus/Preds) for their 2nd. (+6m)

Couturier for Laine and Pionk (-5.5m)

Ghost + 2nd for a 6th (+4.5) to anyone

Voracek with 1.5 million retained for 2nd/3rd to Bruins (he would complement Krecjki nicely) (+6.75)

Pietro: 10 million for 7 years. (-10)

This breaks almost even

Giroux-Eichel-Laine
Lindblom-Hayes-TK
Laughton-Patrick-Bee
Raffle-Nate-NAK

Pietro-Myers
Sanheim-Pionk
Hagg-Braun

Hart

Year after that, let Laughton walk to fit in increased salary of Laine.

This, my friends, is a true contending team.

EDIT: please replace bolded above of -1.9 with -3.25. That leaves a deficit of about -1.5, which can easily be worked out.

where you live and how many games you go to doesn't make you more credible.
- Ftown19125

Well for clowns to say eichel isn’t generational becuase idk maybe they only see him once and awhile was just stating I see him a lot and he’s generational. I have season tickets to sabres. I split with a few people. Go to about 12-15 games a year. Obviously the flyer games but other games I draft my tickets by seeing star players. Eichel is someone you watch whole time he’s on the ice with or without the puck. Makes me much more credible than smucks on here that obviously only watch flyers and can’t tell a generational player and wouldn’t trade provy for one. Shoo shoo now

So trade you’re supposed #1 center to fill provy. Or 2center or package. Generational centers if available for just provy is a deal every time
- SMS4016

No need to Trade Provy. Best of both worlds.

How can you not get hung up on the details? There are way too many moving pieces for it to be remotely possible. If one thing does not work out the blueprint falls apart completely.

The only guy they have in the category of Eichel is Matthews.

Lots of negativity about the Laffs here. Give that team a little time.

I disagree. Matthews, Tavares and Marner are just as good as Eichel. Tavaras has hit the 80 point mark in 2 of his last 3 seasons Had 60 points in 63 games this season.

Marner had 67 points in 59 games which was a 93 point pace and had 94 points the season before.

No, it just gets perhaps delayed, somethings altered.

I am not saying you pull it off in 2 days or something. Might take a year. Even more. It would be worth it to have Eichel and Laine together.

If Laine plays with Eichel he puts up Rantanen style numbers imo.

This is simply not correct. Both Marner and Taveras are as good as Eichel is.

Making hypothetical trades and signings like a NHL video game is not trying to improve the team. List of problems with the Blueprint are:

1) Does Pietrangelo even want to come to PHI
2) Is another team willing to out bid us.
3) Is Buffalo willing to move Eichel. GM has already stated he isnt.
4) Would Buffalo find that deal acceptable
5) Would any team take Voracek with a flat cap for 3 years
6) Would any team take JVR with a flat cap for 3 years
7) Does WPG find that deal acceptable
8) Does a team want Ghost with a flat cap.
9) Are we going to have enough cap to re-sign guys like Hart and Patrick who will be due for raises. Hart's will obv be a considerable one.

If one of these 9 points is a no. You are left with a mess.

Well remember Marner is a winger who is playing with either Matthews or Tavares.

Tavares is no doubt very good, but he looks like he is losing a half-step. He is also 30+. Eichel is 24.

Look at who Eichel plays with. Also look at the D behind him. He is essentially a p/g player now while playing on a very poor team, which also speaks to his mental fortitude. How many guys do you remember that happening with consistently?
