I'm sorry but Andrea is a fantastic pick. Saw him as high as 15 and general consensus around 35. His height is the only thing against him. He is not small or easy to push around weight wise. His speed and skating is silky. And his offensive iq is incredible. His upside is one the highest in the entire draft. And he's still so young he's probably gonna round into 195-200 lbs.

Stating that you would trade Hart in part due to a small sample size is pretty stupid. That sample size along with his talent and ability has shown that he can among the best goaltenders in the league. You don't trade that. Especially when you're a franchise that has had issues with getting top goaltending. Same for defense. The failure of the past to draft and develop defenseman has cost this franchise dearly. They've invested time and top draft picks to build up a defense corps. You can't win without a quality defense. You don't look at a trade in a vacuum of player for player. You look at your team, it's needs and how it's built.

Replace "pretty stupid" with "unwise" and your post is perfect.

See that’s the rub....to me Eichel is as good as everyone on your list not named McDavid.
- landros 2

Edit: I don’t think Buffalo would trade their franchise player. This is a hypothetical.

By adding a guy like Eichel allows you to move other assets to acquire a top flight d man. Again I get what your saying and I am a huge Provorov fan, but Eichel is a superstar. Provorov although a budding star is not in that hemisphere.

How many times do you see top flight dmen traded?

I'm sure he's still growing. Probably will be 6'1" by Thanksgiving.

Can't say drafting a 5'8" defenseman excites me.

He's only 18...maybe he'll grow a few inches

He definitely has the skill level. Time will tell like many of these picks.

Seth Jones, Dougie Hamilton, Eric Karlsson, ...in the last few seasons...although I agree it is rare, with good reason.

Every GM in the NHL has more misses than hits. That is the nature of a 7 round draft.

Hextall was a very good drafter for the Flyers.

- StepfordSam

Sanheim over Pastrnak or Tuch
Patrick over Heiskanen or Makar
Rubstov and LaBerge over DeBrincat

Things would look a lot differently if the right side was taken over the left side.

Do you consider him top flight? I guess, maybe? Karlsson but there were other issues with that. I just think finding a top pair guy is much harder than an offensive player.

Hes 183 lbs. Hes not small. He just might not be able to reach the top shelf at the grocery store but he does not get physically outmatched. Anr by the time hes in the nhl I see him gaining at least 10 more lbs. For everyone complaining we don't have speed or skating this kid is absolutely dynamic.

It happens. Not saying it doesn't, just you'll see more top forwards moved then defenders.

This is so stupid. Every other team passed on every player you mention. Go back to the kids table.

And as far as Patrick, everyone had him ranked 1 or 2 and had he gone away from the that people would have gone insane.

So please enlighten us more with your wisdom Captain Hindsight.

"FLYERS NEED TO DRAFT A GOAL SCORER."

Flyers draft a goal scorer.

"FLYERS SHOULD HAVE DRAFTED SOMEONE WHO'S FAST!"

For sure and I would not move Provorov for Laine or Nylander. But Eichel is a whole different discussion.
