you never have enough good dmen - fidopro
Yep, you keep the best ones and trade the others.
Defensemen usually take longer to develop but like C's there's always a market for them. They also tend to get a better return compared to other positions.

So now with Romanov and Gluehe you (frank)ers have Markov and Komisarek back.

From the looks of it Guhle will be a much better player than Traitorsarek. He is very quick and mobile for his size, very sound defensively, lays big hits and was given a more offensive role just this year so his production and offense will only improve. After looking more closely at this kid he looks really good. A complete defenseman. Good attitude and you can tell he has a winners mindset from his interviews. He's already packed 15lbs on his frame too so he's over 200 already and still growing. Former 1st overall pick in the WHL draft. 3rd best dman in the draft at #16 isn't too bad and the fact he's the player Leaf fans wanted them to the pick before at #15 is a nice cherry on top.

Thanks for the vid. Kid looks pretty solid tbh. I think we have a safe pick there which might help in a near future.
We have lots of LD, but he doesn’t mean some of them might not be parted for a trade. It sucks for Lapierre or Mercer but I think we took the best player available which we aren’t use to. They usually pick a need and this year they did it different so good choice
Karl Alzner buyout
Domi/3rd for Anderson
Prospect pick: Guhle
I wonder if this will continue. Maybe Saad still land in Habs land? He’d be a great fit beside Kotkaniemi and Armia - MONSTERSofMETALZ
He doesn't have the assets to trade for a "star" winger anymore... I think Saad could be had for sure still, again Silfverberg, Killorn and probably others... I agree though pretty good day! He may just clear up some cash and go after Hall

I doubt we are in the Hall sweepstakes but that would be an homerun. Still we don’t have much money for next year if we does.
Silfverberg is interesting but is kinda costly in salary cap.

I think Silfverberg is on a pretty good deal...
Kulak and Weal could go to make room for Hall... maybe even Byron
As far as next season... the Alzner buyout really starts benefiting the team next season, plus the Allen contract coming off... add Hall this offseason and choose between Danault and Tatar for the year after!

Unless you can just move Drouin, of course - obie
5.2m for av35-40pts guy.. ouch. He’s a good player overall but his cap just hurt too much in a world of need. I’d rather target a Rackell or something cheaper at that point

Only downside is most scouts say he's limited with the puck so we probably drafted a future defensive Dmen with our first round pick. What we don't have in the system is a PP quaterback Thomas Chabot style-ish, they can't bodycheck the puck all the way to the offensive zone on the powerplay
I don't see Bergy picking 3 players in that round, he's moving at least 1 of them and probably not for a couple later picks either cause he sure doesn't any more of those

I think that's what Brook was supposed to be, but he may not pan out.
It was the 16th pick fox. A bit late in the first round.
I think if not Hall, the best option now might be Killorn - obie
I also lean towards Killorn...starting to think MB has done too much good with a clear plan that he'll revert to his old style and we'll end up with Kovalchuk and maybe Simmonds on the 4th

If all he did now was add Kovalchuck, I wouldn't be disappointed in his off season at all... but me, I go 5 years/40 million on Hall!

To me the two biggest need in the organisation is a scoring winger and a offensive Dmen who can run the powerplay.
It wasn't a great draft for Dmen so I hoped they would go with a talented forward still available like Lapierre, Mercer or Perrault. I feel that draft didn't adress any needs for the organisation, it's one of their perenial low-risk low-reward pick in the mid-late first round.
