Always seem to be disappointed when Stan and Kelly are making picks.

I was wrong with Dach last year, lets hope they still know more than me.....

I'm guessing they figured without their docs being able to look Lapierre they couldn't risk it.

Would have thought the safe pick would have been Mercer.

Ah Hell

They could have traded down a few picks and got him.

I heard minutes before the pick they were trying to trade down. Clearly wanted Reichel and knew it was a bit of a reach at that position. smh

Players picked in the bottom half of the first round aren't usually first line players. There are exceptions

Bowman needs to be chartered on a jet to the center of the sun... what a joke.... quote... “a guy that won’t be a top end forward but a good two way player”.... with your first pick?!?!?!?!? Are you f****** serious? How much longer do we have to live with incompetence? At least draft a guy with a higher ceiling than that. Unbelievable.

I’ll admit that this pick took me by surprise and I don’t know much about the kid. The pick doesn’t seem that surprising based on what’s being reported about him.

Too be fair, I think Kelly has as much or more say on the picks.

I want to hear Stan say why him over Mercer and LaPierre.

I forget where I pulled this from. Wiz likely has more (or better info).

A well-balanced and agile skater with excellent vision, a deadly shot, and playmaking skills, Reichel is a German Elite League regular who has performed well above expectations for the Berlin Polar Bears. He’s got breakaway speed and lateral quickness, and good things happen once he can get into open ice.

Reichel has bounced between Berlin’s second and third line, plus a regular role on the second power play unit...His quick thinking and first step are two critical aspects to his overall game. Reichel wins a lot of 50/50 puck battles and his speed puts a lot of pressure on opposing blueliners, especially in the chip-and-chase game.

Being a smart and alert player seems to come naturally for Reichel, and the fact that his coach has used him in late/close situations supports that. Although he wasn’t a regular on the penalty kill, Reichel has the smarts, foot speed, and stamina to be groomed for checking scenarios.

Reichel is an excellent stickhandler in traffic and along the boards.

The primary weapons in Reichel’s arsenal are his hands and his shot. He can release an accurate attempt off the pass via a short windup, but Reichel also has shown the ability to make rapid changes to the angle of his shot. Additionally, Reichel can blister shots high to the short side in addition to picking that far corner, this leaving goalies at a significant disadvantage.

The commentators are projecting Mercer to be a middle-six forward.

I’ll give the Reichel pick a chance to breathe a little before I condemn it.

I was surprised too, I always am when it comes to Stan & Mark's pick. It's never who I want or who I thought it would be. I need to check out some info on him, but I trust they picked the best for the hawks.

That’s a fair point but your the god damn gm of the team... YOU make the decisions.. if blowman had any balls he’d stand up for his decisions, etc. another busted pick and terrible decision that all but sets the pattern of mediocrity at best over the last few years
