In a bad way: Jeremie Poirier. He's Gustafsson 2.0 yet I could see Bowman being enamored by his offensive and mail carrying talents. Poirier flees the zone freely.

In a good way: Helge Grans. He is getting a lot of praise lately and has been ranked as the best European D-man available in some polls. Sizable and ability to carry the mail and create offense.

- Theo Fox

I still wouldn't want either but would take Grans over Poirier, hands down.

A much better "surprise" would be Rodion Amirov or Brendan Brisson. Both are still 1st rounders but likely in the 20s.

Projected 2nd rounders who could surprise are Tyson Foerster, Marat Khusnutdinov, Jake Neighbours, Theodor Niederbach, Vasily Ponomaryov, and Lukas Reichel.

Foerster or reichel I like for. Hawk's 2nd round pick but think both are gone by 46

Dominik Kubalik has (unsurprisingly) received a qualifying offer from the Blackhawks, keeping him an RFA for the rest of the offseason.

The two sides are working on negotiating a new contract.

He could sign an offer sheet
- GPHawksfan

That's true, but if he was going to get a $3 million dollar offer sheet, I'd just take the 2nd round pick. Anything less is a reasonable contract that Stan would match. Hawks have no reason to do anything but wait Strome out. Btw, I'm not saying they should qualify him at the minimum, but there's no reason at all to offer him $3 million.

Plus strome as no arbitration rights this year so hawks can take their time with him. Plus strome not having any arbitration rights could be valuable to a team if hawks want to move him.

$2,181,546 - $4,363,095 gets you a 2nd Round Pick. I say the offer to Strome should be $2,181,547.

Zawaski's tweet responding to another tweet stating that Vegas is willing to trade Fleury and retain 50% salary for a 2nd round pick. Fleury has an AAV of $7M for 2 more years.

Coincidentally, $3.5M is what Crawford was offered.

@JayZawaski670

Hawks fans, do you want Marc-Andre Fleury for $3.5 million and a 2nd round pick? I wonder what it would take. Not much if Vegas is desperate to move him.

This year is very different. I still like the "musical chairs" analogy. There will be plenty of free agents signed to decent contracts. But when the music stops there are going to be plenty of players without a chair (contract) and they will be forced to sign contracts at below market prices (well below their initial asking price). I hope that Stan plays hardball with Crow and Strome and still has a little cash leftover in case there is a player to be had at "value/bargain" price. This year, Stan sleeping early in the process, might be a good thing.

I think you are on to them...it is ludicrous to think the GMs haven't discussed the situation (after the board of governors trades it around in private too.)\\

He has regressed. Weird, coming off your worst season where you had to be replaced, you ask for a big contract.

Guess it doesn't hurt to ask

The difference in my DESIRES is Fleury has a long deal I am stuck with...where crow will be asked to take or leave a shorter one, I imagine, even with Colorado...

I would much rather have Flower at 50% then Murray for the same compensation (2nd rounder rumor). Keep Malcolm and have a battle for backup and Rockford.

Are they asking Eddie O's opinion? Wasn't he one of the only guys in Pitt's organization who backed up Fleury to start?

I do not want to pay $3.5 mil per year for 2 years and give up a 2nd round pick for a goalie turning 36 next month. Maybe Fleury (50% retained), their 3rd round pick this year and their 2nd round pick next year for our 2nd round pick next year, the rights to Subban, and future considerations (like the Kruger deal).

Always wondered why the Golden Knights have gray uniforms.
- boilermaker100

Owner is a West Point guy. He couldn't use the Army's 'Black Knights' so went with 'Golden'. Also the reason why their unis are gray.

The story i read is that Vegas is looking for a 3rd party to play the Role of Toronto in the lehner deal. Get draft pick compensation to retain so they can trade Fleury
