Hearing via sources that Matt Niskanen is learning towards retirement. Niskanen, 33, has another year left on his contract at $5.75 million. By all accounts, he seems pretty resolute in his decision. Which obviously will have an impact now on Flyers' off-season plans.

Interesting, hope they get excited and overspend that extra cap space on a UFA

But for real my offseaon goal for the Rangers:

1. Trade for a 2C
2. Sign/Trade for a LH D man
3. Sign a Bottom 6 forward/center for depth.
4. Trade one of Strome/ADA

My wet dream offseason is go all out with the Barzal offer sheet

My Wish List:

1. Draft LaFranchise
2. Upgrade at 2C --- Cirelli or Danault preferred
3. Find a LHD partner for Trouba
4. Add physical, brute force, miserable to play against SOB for our bottom six
5. Drink some whiskey when Numbers 1-4 above are complete

Performance bonuses impact:
Sean Shapiro @seanshapiro
Because of performance bonus overages the Stars salary cap for 2020-21 is going to be close to $78.5 million, not $81.5. That's likely going to lead to some potential major movement in the coming days.

Rangers could really use Oleksiak. Cheap contract, so the Stars probably won't deal him, but signed for only one more year, so maybe they don t believe they can afford to re-sign him.

So rangers aren't qualifying Strome?

Either they want Strome cheaper than 4.5 (or higher via arbitration) or they are looking outside Org for a 2C.

Mb Gorton found an Applebee's with outdoor seating and is getting ready to swing a deal.

They could still qualify strome if they don't work out a trade for a preferable Center. Fast might come back if the market isn't what he thought it would be. If it's true that they haven't spoken to Deangelo's agent extensively, although they qualified him, did they do so just to trade him? In any event, the left-handed defensemen that were available as UFA are all but gone. That's why I mention Oleksiak, especially if the Stars are looking to maximize their return on players they can't afford to extend.

Apparently Cirelli hit some performance bonuses too ( Selke votes perhaps? ) so Tampa has slightly even LESS cap than previously reported!
