15 goal, 45 point pace playing 12 minutes a night in his 2nd season in the NHL. I still think he’s better suited as a winger but he’s exactly what you want from a depth player in the cap era. Young, cost-controlled and productive.

I’d rather have guys like Gaudette, Virtanen, ZMac and Motte over Sutter and Beagle.

Canucks PK was ranked 16th in the NHL at 80.5%, even if it somehow fell to 76%(worst case scenario), that’s an extra 10 goals allowed but you’re saving cap and likely getting more offense/speed/energy if you stick with the youth.

I will start by saying I do respect your posts always. The comment that I bolded has been repeated many times everywhere by pretty well everyone.

When things mattered last year in the playoffs Green went to Beagle and Sutter repeatedly before the other players listed in that comment. That was a NHL coach making those choices and he did very well with an inexperienced team.

As far as I understand Canucks are now trying to move some of these contracts like Sutter and Beagle . We will hear Beagle and Sutters name repeated over and over this week but I have heard Sutter is one of the pieces named in the OEL trade .

Gaudette did put up good numbers and I agree he should be wing but by saying that you are confirming Canucks need a different third line center.

Alright fellas. Had a bit of idea after taking a break from this place for a while. I imagine some will hate the idea, but thats ok, as you don't have to part take. Given social distancing, and text so often getting lost in translation, I was thinking of streaming 4 player call of duty with hockeybuzz members to casually play and talk about all things canucks. I'm not trying to start a podcast or blog or whatever the hell people do nowadays, it's just a means to talk hockey live while continuing to social distance. I'll stream the event so we will have a live chat as well for people who can't play, or don't want to. The object won't be to win at video games, slander other members of hockeybuzz or create online harassment, but to just talk all things canucks while casually gaming. Call of duty is free and cross platform, so anyone can play and I can post a link to the stream so other members can chat. Again, this isn't a start of anything like a blog or a podcast, but just a means of being able to "shoot the poop" with buddies online, instead of at a pub. Everyone welcome, absolutely no bashing of specific posters, just a bunch of hockeybuzz people talking canucks and casually losing games online. Anyway, I know the heat is coming, but I just thought it would be a cool experiment. Cheers

Hi,

Still thinking about OEL - and how that relates to Markstrom - and how that relates to Robin Lehner.

That's the new blog:

Definitely. I just need to expand my Xbox’s hard drive because CoD warzone takes too much space. Won’t fully download for me. Give me a week or so and I’ll pick up an external drive and then we can kick ass.

I think this is a great idea codes, although I don't have video games or the apparatus to play games. And if not for sports I wouldn't even own a TV, but I applaud the thought, good luck.

Letting HB posters run around in a virtual world and shoot each other is probably a really good idea.

Interesting that Gaudette has become a whipping boy. It’s almost as if players that young will just not get any better. Will not have bad stretches before they find consistency. I was really disappointed in his playoff performance, but giving up on the kid is silly imo

Well personally I’m not privy to what happens in a hockey boardroom, I don’t have a guy to email.
There is definitely a group that doesn’t like Benning or any of his signings, but if he was as bad as certain fans claim, why is he still employed.

Benning in my opinion has done a really good job with the Canucks, yes there are players that didn’t pan out the way he hoped, but looking at the overall picture he has been a good GM.

Those same ppl quick to lay blame & no chance for redemption should live life the same way. Engineers have that their shlt doesn’t stink attitude. Problem is they are too arrogant or obtuse to understand this.

I think we have to be fair and lay most of the blame for this signing mistake at the player's feet. He's given the Canucks barely a fraction of what he's demonstrated he's capable of. It's almost like he lost the will to live the moment he put pen to paper.

Aah finally a post worthy of the conundrum.

Don’t disagree that the player is the problem but most can agree that when that signing was announced (ignoring everything else) the 6 year term was clearly an overpay.

I like a lot of what Benning has done but Louie was never worth that much (and if that was market, should have never been signed). His contract is really the only one causing problems - AAV and term.

- CoolerHeads

It was a bad year for UFA signings unlike any other. Wrong place at the wrong time were the Canucks. It does not absolve JB from that signing.

Only issue with AG is he needs sheltered minutes & weak defensively. Otherwise he is fine but needs to improve his 200’ game to be a true 3C.

Too healthy.

Wife making blueberry pancakes as I type. Tray of bacon has gone into the oven. Morning nirvana.
