Is Hedman at his peak? 100%. He is 7 months older than OEL. He had a down year but it could be possible his best years are ahead of him
- CanuckDon

It could be possible. Like Vantel mentioned above, he was on a bad Coyotes team for offense (though his defense also dropped on a defensive team.)

However, are you will to gamble trading a big package that he might have just had a down year? Especially with a contract that's 7 years long at 8.25 mil?

I just don't think it's worth it.

I would absolutely make that gamble. Depends on how big the package is. Virtanen, a salary dump, a B prospect and a first. Yes.

Using the OEL/Dvorak trade suggestion...

https://www.capfriendly.c.../armchair-gm/team/1976083

Options left to bridge Petey & Hughes & future contract cap space.

- Nighthawk

I’d be surprised if that happens, wouldn’t you?

Brock did it but he’s definitely not at their level. Franchise players don’t really bridge anymore.

Most teams were doing it before the flat cap and I doubt it changes now.

Sheifele makes 6.1 McKinnon makes McKinnon 6.3 Barkov 5.9 but Vancouver will pay 10 mil or more

Static cap so yes I believe it’s very possible.
Brock wasn’t really a bridge but more of the new age go for the big one after 5yrs.

If they can't resign Tanev I would prefer t,hey address the right side than get OEL. Rather see the Carlo Debrusk deal happen if that's what's floating out there.

You know, in fourteen seasons Evgeni Malkin has only once had less points than number of games played, career 1.19 points per game played...God I hope Pettersson is that guy for us! We’ve never had an elite NHL center, which is probably why we’ve never won a Cup.

Henrik was great, but he wasn’t elite...

- Pacificgem

Except Petterson already has two seasons below a point a game.....

Regarding OEL expanding his list of potential trade partners beyond Boston & Vancouver:
I would be surprised to see that to happen.

I agree, 8.5 is fair value for him.

I'd offer Erikson 2m retained, OJ, 2021 first

For

OEL 0.5m retained

Yotes only pay Erickson .5 a year, the first I'd only offer with the .5 retained, otherwise it's a 2nd.

Remind me what McDavid and Matthew's made on their bridge contract? Cause that's the level he's trending at.

Why are you guys so eager to give a first round pick away when it seems that drafting is our GMs strongest skill? Instead on spending a 1st on OEL why not roll the dice on drafting a Dman in the first round?

At least that way the Canucks can have cost control if the player turns into a stud.

They should still be trying to build through the draft imo. When this team is truly Cup competitive in four years time, the only current players who’ll still be on the team are...

Hughes - 20
Pettersson - 21
Boeser - 23
Horvat - 25
Miller - 27

looking fairly competitive now. I agree on keeping picks, but four years down the road?!

Well, I said “Cup competitive”, which I don’t believe they are. Are they competitive, sure, they’re no easy two points for the opposition.

Ya, I suppose, although I’d like him to get traded to Ottawa for the 5th overall. Damn they’re gonna have a great future if they draft Stutzle and Raymond.

Islanders have 9 mil in cap space and surely they will need 10 mil plus for Barzal and then they need to pay their D Pulock and Toews

biggest weakness on the team is the blueline imo. younger guys coming, hopefully one is legit top4. Need an upgrade back there. But we were pretty close to beating Vegas, a lot of people's cup favorites.
