The #NYR have extended defenseman Anthony DeAngelo a qualifying offer. 53 points last season and a +12. I would think this one might be heading to arbitration. It’s going to take 5+ million a year to get this done before arbitration. #NHL

The QO deadline for RFA's is October 7, and given what DeAngelo made last season, his QO is $971,250, so pretty much a no-brainer to offer his arb.

Window to sign QO opens noon on Oct 9, and closes on Oct 18 at 5PM. After that point you have arb cases scheduled. The offering of arb should result in the potential for a second buyout period.

I think Dillon ends up in New York.
Defensive defensemen, physical specimen and equally as imposing. Plays a more hybrid style two way defensemen. He’s a less offensive version of Muzzin. 3-3.5M/per on a 4 year contract should get it done.
Definitely a better replacement for Staal.

I don’t think they want to tie up 4 years on a guy that will be 30+ with Miller Hajek and Lindgren in the system.

Would rather over pay: $4 mill/ for only 2 years instead. He would be a great acquisition and a HUGE upgrade over Staal!

You got to have depth and you need defensemen who can show a young defenseman how to play his position. You have no idea how valuable having proven veterans on the ice, on the bench, in the locker room and outside of the bubble of hockey. Hajek, Miller and Lindgren are humans just as much as they are hockey players and I promise you that the easiest way to ruin a young defensemans development is by sending him out to sink or swim in the top-4 without any NHL experience.
Dillon provides depth and competition for the young defensemen coming.
