Isn’t Copp the second coming as a center ?
- bennythehat

Perfetti is likely two years away. Who knows who our second-line center might be until Perfetti is ready.

I know it seems unlikely but it'd be unbelievable if Little returns, he'd likely win the Masterton trophy and be a good story in the season following a very trying year.

By the time Perfetti is ready, Scheifele will be in decline after Maurice has finished overplaying him for years. Perfetti at that time will be a 2A Center while Scheifele will be a 2B Center, and we will be all be saying that the Jets are an 'elite' Center away from doing something special.

The Jets will have a lot good players to choose from at 40!!! But I suspect they try to move down 3-7 spots to pick up a third rounder, we don’t have any 3rd or 4ths this year

Call me whatever you want.

As long as Maurice is coach of this team, we are not going anywhere.

He is the only coach in the league that develops centres by playing them on the wing. History speaks for itself. Petan, Roslovic and Harkins are just a few names that come to mind. A friend of mine made an astute observation about Scheifele, when he said that if it was not for Noel playing him at Center, Maurice most likely would have had him playing wing.

Edit: Andrew Copp a Center playing wing. Perreault started as a Center and now playing wing. If I really go back, I could probably find more.

Complete nonsense. If your goal is to have the Jets finish dead last then go ahead with your lineup.

He’s right. Scheifele has already seen two straight years of lowered performance

Literally nobody has said that. All anyone is saying is that his stats paint him as a top 6 forward, and that he should be given an extended look as 2C

Personally I think they should just keep the 40th overall pick and wait for their turn in round 5 and hopefully that time waiting will remind them of how dumb the trades they made were that lost the 3rd and 4th round picks in this draft.
Will likely get a better player at 40th overall anyway then possibly find one in round 3 or 4.

Michelangelo couldn’t paint Copp into a 2nd line forward.

Cole Perfetti, drafted as a Center but will most likely play wing. Welcome to the Paul Maurice system!
- TheUltimateJet

Hard pass on him as a winger. He was drafted as, and will play as a Centre. LW and RW are both well stocked and the centre is depleted. Welcome to the team Cole!

Scheiffs is a #1C by all standards. If his numbers dip a touch, I guess you can write it up as decline. However, anyone who watches the games will tell you he is the best forward on the team, and on the ice many nights. Perfetti will need 1-2 years to start hitting his groove, but the Jets are fortunate enough to have high talent wings around him already. Ehlers/Connor/Raslovic/Perrault can all play the high speed puck possession game that Perfetti is accustom to playing. Best wait before you rain on this parade. Jets made a great pick, and only time will tell how this pans out.
