Anyone with even the slightest moral compass should boycott the olympics. - Feds91Stammer
As a Canadian Olympic hockey is by far my favourite sporting event to watch. But you’re right |

I like Tanev, well worth 3.5m for what he brings to the team and the enjoyment I get watching him. - stackthepads
Tanev is fine. I’m just thinking more recent signings and if you didn’t make them. You could make a splash with 7-8m. Maybe Hall or something. |

Oh it’s awesome. I remember staying up stupid late when I was younger to watch the Nagano games. |

Tanev is probably overpaid by around $1M. JJ is overpaid by $3.25M.

Doesn't quite work that way. A team like the Penguins isn't just not going to spend free cap any given offseason. If it were not Tanev, that 3.5 mil would have gone to someone else. If it were not Johnson that 3.25 mil would have gone to someone else. We wouldn't just have $6.75 in extra cap lying around this season. We'd maybe have better players if we had been smarter during those offseason, but we still wouldn't have a shot at Hall. |

Pens are on the downswing it will be difficult to attract players now, especially ones with cup aspirations like Hall.
It’s dark times ahead, I just want players I enjoy watching on the team, Tanev is a player I enjoy watching. |

And people would lose their mind if we didn’t spend to the cap in the final years of Sid/Geno |

Yeah for a spend to the cap team trying to win a Stanley Cup, going into a season with more than $1.5 mil in free cap is unacceptable and way beyond the injury call up/trade cushion smart teams a lot themselves. |

So I’m sure it’s been said already but without backreading, Florida wanted him “badly” and Matheson is the best they could get back? |

Yes I understand that but as we all know spending cap just because you have it doesn’t make it the right decision. |

New blog from Yohe with interview from JR. here is a direct quote:
“Dumoulin and Petterson are still young and aren’t going anywhere,” he said. “And obviously we like Matheson a great deal. He’ll play on the left side. So, that’s our left side. Those three. That’s it.”

Ruth has to know. I'm pretty sure that "bury a vet" comment was towards JJ, Horny and Bjugstad. And 2 of them are gone. |

Idk the fancy stats on him on either side, but does it really matter what side he plays on? He just sucks anywhere he's placed. |
