Don't care if they could get him. The rumored assets it would take to land Laine, along with what his next contract will probably look like, make me not want to touch it. - Ftown19125
Details please. What would it take to get a 40 goal scorer in a trade and sign? |

I dont think Laine will end up being dealt. I think his price tag is going to be higher than what ppl expect.
I would take a flyer on B.Ryan if the price is right. He looked good after returning from his leave. |

SSB, I like the idea of a sniper like Laine on the Flyers but, like everything else, what's the price in current assets and the cost of the contract in a locked cap environment going forward? I think it may be too high on both sides of that question. Why else would WPG be interested in moving a 40+ goal player? |

I think it was 2 firsts and a top 4 D or a 1st and a top 2 D or something like that. I think I may have read a 1st, a good prospect, and a top 4 D somewhere possibly as well.
In my opinion, I'd rather not give up those assets and then have to sign him for 9-10 million after next season. |

Ok....
Ftown just implied it will cost a lot to trade for Laine and a lot to sign him, as if he heard something. So my question became, what did he hear?
Realistically, no price with surprises me. If some of you were fine with signing Kevin Hayes at 7.14 million at age 27 and only posting 45-55 points a season, obviously a 22 year old 40 goal scorer is gonna cost a lot more. Really think about this. 55 points is Hayes is ceiling. 40 plus goals is what Laine has done so far and could potentially go up. |

Price would likely be 2C and/or top 4 pick and a pick or 2. |

Fair point, but a big part of the reason Hayes price tag was as high as it is is because of what he does on the defensive side as well. Most people also thought the Flyers overpaid him. |

Ok. When I look back at what it took to get Chris Pronger. Joffery Lupul who was in his mid 20’s and a 20 goal scorer. Luca Sbisa who was one year out of his after and coming out of the first round at 19. Plus two first round picks. The Flyers willingly gave this to the Ducks for Pronger who was 35 at the time. I think that asking price for Laine is nothing more than fair. |

Flyers linked to Laine as of 4 minutes ago - SuperSchennBros
I would bet they only got this “link” because Elliot Friedman said in his 31 thoughts:
“ There’s a legit chance it happens. Columbus, hoping to make a major move, is in there, but is there a match? Same with Carolina. Two teams that could do it: Los Angeles and Philadelphia. I’m just not sure they would. I also wonder about the Islanders. It’s the kind of stealth move Lou Lamoriello would love. But they’ve got cap issues and it’s not like he’d give us a hint.” |

Speaking of goalies - we are now halfway through paying Ilya Bryzgalov. Only 7 more years. - atibus
But won't the AMac and Gudas buyouts/cap retentions come off soon? |

PT, I think you may have been hitting the bong a bit early today.... just sayin - Letterkenney
I honestly thought my sarcasm was funny. I guess I was misguided.
Speaking of bong, I went to school in Oregon, and umm, spent most of my college days stoned or worse. I used to listen to Pink Floyd and would cover my head with a blanket and smoke under there, so that none of the fumes would escape my ravenous nostrils.
But since then, it's a rare occurrence that does not include today. My primary affliction today is the brain bleed from having to watch the 'debate' last night. |

Well, to be fair, Pronger was already then a sure fire HOFer and still playing at a very high level.

I’m all in on Laine, what would be your trade to WPG? I had suggested two firsts in the upcoming drafts along with Laughton and Ghost. Laine still needs to be signed . |

Why isn't anyone mentioning Toffoli? He is a good two way player, steady, dependable. Not very flashy and not high-end, but would add stability and skill to any line he plays on. |

you think that gets it done though? I don't really think so. Also in the next couple years coots' deal is up, so they have to re-sign him. try to work out a long term deal with hart as well. Giroux's deal is up too, so some cap relief there, but do they sign him to another deal?
i don't know if i like the cap implications it could have. i'm not poopting on laine, i just don't know if he's worth what the flyers would need to give up, along with paying him what he's going to want to get paid going forward. |
