Pretty much an end of an era. It started with buying out G and ended with buying out Hank. All great players and will always appreciate them, but time to move on for this new era of players.

It is kind of funny, Kreider was the only one to survive the era

Hank deserved better than the garbage rosters this team kept throwing out in front of him.

Best goalie of the cap era and it's not close.

“It’s just business Sonny, it’s not personal”.

This notion that the organization owes him the right to finish his career as a Ranger is ridiculous. He signed a contract for 8 years at 8.5 mil, and was paid. This is not Mark Messier here, sorry. Sather created this dilemma by not having the foresight or caring what a 38 year old goalie would look like In 2021, now JD and Gorton have to look like the bad guys? Bull shyt. Yes, he had a stellar career, now it’s time to go, he’s no longer the face of the franchise, actually he’s in the way.

I was just about to post and quote this same thing.

I think that's the case from 2007-2012

letting Jagr walk was bad, and the defense they put in front of him was awful

Lundqvist was most incredible when he has Malik and Rozsival in front of him

but you can't say that the Rangers organization didn't try their best from 2012-2017 to put the best teams in front of him they could

they traded their first rounders 4 straight years, went after free agents, made trades

Henrik was so good that there was never a chance they would have a high pick to put on the team because they would never be bad enough to pick that high with him on the team, except the one time when they blew the pick in 2010

Representing this organization has been the biggest source of pride and joy in my life. I’m so grateful for the opportunity, for the friendships and for all the great memories created wearing the red, white and blue.
I will always cherish my time as a Ranger.

I'd even take it a step more, we didn't didn't have garbarge rosters, in fact I would argue our Final team was one of the deepest in the league. Our main problem is that other than jagr, we never really had the one guy who could take over games. Gabby was close and is sort of unappreciated by fans, but by and large we just went through years and years of having tons of good, but not great players on the team.

Our roster that lost to the Bolts in the ECF was way better and deeper than the Hawks that year, but we didn't have a Kane that could just go into god mode.

Not if they go balls to the wall and offer Barazal about 12 million...isn't that just 4 1sts?

It was also completely devastated by injuries. No way they had a chance even if they won that ECF

A class act, and a heck of a goalie. Congrats on an amazing career in New York, Henrik.
