For what it's worth, Lebrun just said the Leafs told Barrie and Ceci that they will not be re-signed - PatC80
Where did he say this? Can't find but want to confirm as it's fantastic news!

So the King being bought out means the Rangers are not trading one of the other goalies. At least probably not until the deadline. |

I don't think either one were actual long-term plans for the team.

I would suspect that they will wait to see if they're good or if they suck next year |

Interestingly the maximum fine for circumventing the Cap/Capfloor is 5 million bucks. Drop your salary to peanuts and pay the fine!
They'd probably get hit with lost picks too. Obviously not going to happen but interesting. - The Law
Where did you hear/read this?
From everything I've ever read, there's no guidelines for what happens if you aren't cap compliant. |

I don't see them ever trading him.
But if for some insane reason they decided he had to be a cap casualty... One would have to wonder if a budget Rielly for a couple seasons, the 1st, Robertson, Sandin... Any combination of that would grab their attention.🤷♂️ - joel878
He's entrenched there and has a NMC.
Going to be interesting to see how the Lightning juggle things.
Two of Killorn, Johnson and Gourde have to go ...and they'll need to drop their NT restrictions. |

Article 26 of the CBA (at least the old CBA) sets out the available punishments that an Arbitrator can levy.
You're kinda right in that the NHL and PA could agree to a punishment without being limited by Article 26 BUT if one of them disagrees then it goes to the Arbitrator who is then limited by Article 26.
Would both sides want to hammer Eugene on this one? Maybe ... |

I would be fine with bringing back Barrie - if we grab him off the bargain rack in a Boxing Day signing.
Like, really, really cheap. - Atomic Wedgie
i would bring barrie back if he could play the role shattenkirk played for the bolts.
4/5 most minutes. $1.8M caphit.
if he's still looking for a contract by halloween, might be worth a look. |

Some team in the West will give him a look. He had just the one bad year unlike Shatt at 2 straight. One's a buyout deal and still got paid extra so he could take cheaper with Tampa. Barrie will get 4+ somewhere. |

Pandemic revenues will be really interesting to watch. Have to wonder how many of the elder statesmen will just hang em up when offered peanuts. |

Or at the very least take a pass on 2020-21.
If you are a 37 year old guy who has already made $50M in your career, do you want to sign with a team for $1M (prorated down to $500,0000) to risk your health, have to stay in bubbles, deal with the uncertainty?
Take the year off. Bubble in the home you already own. Buy a Bowflex and get ready for offers for next season. |

Definition of insanity:
I bought some microphones and they're being delivered by Canada Post.
(cute) postal truck driver puts a slip in my door with pickup instructions.
Because they probably shipped it insured, it requires a 19-plus signature, but Canada Post drivers have no means or authority to check age, so I have to wait until she's done her route for the day (~50 more packages), for it to be dropped off at the nearest post office, which will likely be closed, and then go pick it up tomorrow morning... with my ID. |

Purolator has not delivered the last 10 packages to my office because it's "temporarily closed." I have photos of him driving past the parking lot and heading in a circle, parking in the parking lot across the street and at that moment marking it as "attempted delivery." I set up a table outside and sat at the entrance of the building with a sign and waved at him and he kept on going, put "attempted delivery." It's really (frank)ing great! |
