Plan was Shoemaker/Ray combine for about 6 innings. They gave up one run in those six innings (On an error/wild pitch). Success.
I would have preferred Shoemaker stay in. But the bottom line is the plan basically worked. The offense needs to score more than 1 run if you want to beat the Rays... - Leafs43
exactly.
The kids not hitting was the issue.
Tonight will hopefully be different |

I wouldn't do it for 5 years, maybe for 1 or 2 years - PatC80
I would have 0 problems with Leafs going with Holtby on a 5y contract if 5mln AAV.
He's a very solid goalie who has proven several years to play well in playoffs -- and intrinsicly is a top5 goalie in NHL (Price, Vasilevskiy, Gibson, Holtby and Bobrovskiy probably).
Carter Hart will soon be in that top tier list as well. Surely I'm forgetting someone, but Holtby is a great goalie. |

This sounds exactly like the trolls around here 2-3 years ago. They have good young players who will need good contracts. That's a good thing. They can add without losing that flexibility.
If they go out and sign a bunch of vets and give them NMC then ya they may regret that but the original point is ...lots of cap space and lots of options.
They didn't add the Breadman and tell him you get to babysit the kids for 5 years. The Rags will spend their money. - The Law
Agree the talent is a good thing, I think the Rangers are and will be a very good team for a long time. Talent pool is top tier, right there with Tampa and Colorado. - but not in agreement with the lots of cap space at the moment. They just unloaded Lundqvist and Staal - there will be more of the same coming. |

Weird, off-topic question:
Did the Blue Jays ever do anything to thank Buffalo? Like a public announcement or gesture?
If not, I'm kinda disappointed. I would have like to have seen them wear "Buffalo Blue Jays" uniforms for their last "home game." |

How so? It was in the dirt. - bobbyisno1
So catchers cant stop a ball in the dirt?
Runner on 3rd, keep your legs closed and keep the ball in front of you.
Granted, it wasnt a great throw, and i wasnt a fan of pulling shoemaker, but driving in 1 run will not win you games against the rays.....or most teams in the playoffs |

Holtby on a 2 yr/$8M deal would be good.. I think having Holtby at $4M per season, splitting starts with Campbell would be fine |

You know what a Managers job is? To manage. There was a complete lack of that in yesterdays game.
When your starting pitcher is rolling that good, you keep him in. If Shoemaker goes the 5 or 6 innings he should've, then Ray comes in for the final 3 or so (bring in Bass to maybe close it out) and Cole doesn't come in and give up 2.
Their "plan" didn't work because it cost them runs and they lost. - GreatGigInTheSky
Except we don't know what Shoemaker's performance in the 4th/5th would have been. History is full of pitchers who were rolling through the first time through the lineup and then got lit up the second time through. You don't know if he would have pitched well - you are just pretending to know.
Point is - One run through 6 against the Rays is a success as far as I am concerned.

Think they had a twitter thing and a video thanking them for the parks usage.
On the Buffalo Blue Jays thing, hell no to that. Put a Buffalo patch on the opposite shoulder from Tony's #1 or something, but don't touch the teams name. |

I hear you but the bottom line is the Jays couldn't muster a wet fart of offense against Snell. They have Ryu going against Glasnow, if the Jays can score a few runs you wont care so much about Montoyo's incompetence.

I’m ok with the 6 inning plan but it might have been better to keep him in for one more batter. The rightie/leftie split numbers for the guy who hit the triple were pretty large. The other side of that, of course, is that everyone likes to start the inning. |

We could/should open the border for 3 days around Black Friday as a thank you. We all head down shop and keep NF's/Buffalo afloat. Then we all come back and quarantine for two weeks.
I will have bought cases of bourbon with which to occupy my time in quarantine. |

He was doing literally exactly what you hope for from your starting pitcher in a playoffs game; dominate. You let them go. Because that's their job. It also has the added bonus of keeping the bullpen fresh.
And losing a game because you're trying to be too smart and having it not work is a fail as far as the series is concerned. |

The 20/21 season should be between parentheses for the Rangers imho.
Unload as many unwanted players as possible at the tdl. Hopefully 'tank' and get another elite prospect or 2 at the draft. And being regarded as contenders next 5+ years, they should be able to sign good depth players as well as a couple elite players in the offseason. Hopefully a Cup or 2 happens next 5-8 years...! |

Buffalo does not get special treatment for fulfilling their duties as Toronto's female dog.
All the Jay's really did was score their park some free upgrades and saved it from being mothballed for a year or two anyways.
(frank) em, no thank you's. |

True. They hit the ball hard quite a few times but they were hit right at them.
Ryu not starting game 1 was insane enough but then they pull the guy they started in place of him way too (frank)ing early. It's insane.
I will still care, though. Because if they win this series it will be in spite of the manager and they'll have to do the same in the next series, too. |
