he was actually dead for the last 3 years and they would prop his corpse in front of the goalies on the powerplay

They will have to do the same thing with Weber at the blueline soon anyway, the trolley is already going to be there

Why would they get rid of one of their best defensemen?

They are both extra defenders right now so does it matter if he is 7th or 8th?

Mete has no value and everybody sees him like he is: a fringe 3rd pairing D, who has been failing to use his stick and body in order to be efficient in the D zone. We knew that he would be outmuscled in board battles, but we expected him to to learn those. It didn't happen. Yeah he skates well, and doesn't turn the puck over too much, but he is also chasing it most of the time in his zone. And add to that his "shot de tapette" and i really don't see how you can leverage some value for him around the league...so better keep him for depth/injuries.

yeah I get what you mean, at this point we're pretty much hoping the whole roster keeps their playoff versions, besides a few exceptions... but although Mete can be very reliable, he doesn't have many attributes that come with it

c'est clair qu'il aura jamais un lancer foudroyant, mais j'aurais pensé à ce niveau là qu'il serait capable de faire un peu mieux, quitte à ce qu'il s'inspire d'un gars de la même taille comme Marc-André Bergeron

Jordan Weal probably has a worse shot and they still play him on the PP

Mete's game is all about entries and exits. IIRC from his stats, defensively his strength is to not let the puck enter his D zone well, so that the other team doesn't get to position themselves before the puck is cleared or skated/passed out. It's a good strategy that leads to generally fewer goals against when he is on the ice, but I agree that once the cycle is established his utility is lowered. Still, I'll take that over old-times style Chiarot and Edmundson whose game is to try to break the cycle instead of preventing it in the first place.

Oh, than it totally means that Mete is a good defender. Thanks for the heads up mon ami allergène.

P.S: It's sad to think it was true...at least he was sporting some great hair during the PO.
