What's the minimum quarantine time these days?

I'm just wondering how many breaks they could cram into an already tight schedule.

Baseball didn't care. Sports had exemptions.

If what I was told during my test is accurate it does. Which is if you're tested so close to your travelling the virus may not show up. I was advised the best way to do it is to test as soon as you're back, and test again a week later.

Ok. But we were discussing the mechanics of bubbles if they went that route. Bubbles would be a factor if the virus got worse and the kind of travel that MLB had wouldn’t work. Either way, there’s still no crossing the border and the Covid projections suggest it will stay closed for a while

A prison with room service

I read the entire article the other day, it's really hard not to take a lot of it as 'I'm rich and this is not exactly what I wanted' levels of whining.

Your prison yard had a (frank)ing Tim Hortons coffee truck in it. 🤦‍♂️

communist russia probably gave their players more freedom back in the day.

i doubt the players are going to agree to strict/long bubbles again.

nfl, college football and mlb are going with much more minimal precautions. seems to be going reasonably well, with obviously a few bumps.

Ohhhhh. Freedom.

I don't see the bubble being a regular occurance either, but if the choice is bubble or no paycheque... Perhaps we see a shift in that philosophy real fast.

The NFL is in week 3, MLB was an absolute poop show out of the gate and isn't out of the woods yet.

To be fair, you told me 6-8 weeks ago that this 'pandemic' was basically over. Perhaps someone with your level of respect for it shouldn't be commenting on which controls should or shouldn't be a thing. 🤷‍♂️

If I was Buffalo I'd be saying yeah probably should have brought that up before signing a contract to stay in this poop hole for 8 years...

Is 50 something extra hits and 21 more blocked shots the difference between 1.6 and 1.1 these days?

Hagg should be better, he's two years older. The idea that they can have essentially identical offensive numbers at that point doesn't work very well for your argument. 🤷‍♂️

- joel878

Hagg outhits and outblocks Dermott at pretty much a 2:1 clip.

They may have essentially identical offensive numbers but that does not discount the fact that they have very dissimilar defensive numbers -- which works very well for my argument (also, check out their Dzone v Ozone starts).

This is also Hagg's 3rd contract which will bring him to UFA. Dermott will be signing his 2nd contract which, presumably, won't be his last within his RFA years.

Dermott should earn considerably less than Hagg.

I've been pleasantly surprised by how well baseball worked out, and NFL so far (college football has been a mixed bag).

But a few caveats:

- we are now approaching the second wave
- the air circulations systems for hockey are much more conducive to spreading the virus.

I get why the Marincins of the league want to play.

I'm just wondering if Matthews is so inclined - if it's going to be a restricted year, it might be tempting to just opt out and wait for normal in 2021-22.

in the u.s., both cases and more importantly deaths have been on a general downward trajectory over the last 6-8 weeks.

might see a slight uptick/plateau in cases. Deaths will continue to decline.

So, the face-value review appears as follows: Eichel doesn’t want out of BUF; BUF doesn’t want to trade Eichel; move along, nothing to see here. Fair enough. But some rumours are worth checking out/mentioning. Which I’ve now done. Now back to draft prep.

Approaching the second wave? We never really got out of the first and with 700 cases in Ontario I think we are firmly IN the second wave.

I'd be interested to see how many players opt out of the NHL campaign. A guy like Matthews probably thinks he is invincible.

Well... Shot blocks? He didn't last year. More so a 1 to .75 clip. Hits... Yeah it was close.

How deep into those metrics is one diving into on a 1-1.5 mil contract?

If you want to go the other way, Jacob Larsson hits far less than Dermott... Blocks about the same amount of shots, and his offensive totals are not even close. That was good for 1.2 million per.

You can say dermott shouldn't get a penny more than 750k if you want... Doesn't make it a thing. I can see the comparables landing him something around 1.5
