My complaint about the front office is they fail hard on capitalizing on their assets. Everything else they've done has been good or very good.

EDIT: Ok, I guess also their choice of Manager is a point of complaint, too.

- GreatGigInTheSky

people complained about everyting, which includes a lot of the team today.

they let EE walk, and the compensation pick they got for that, they took Pearson.

I have to give credit, they did some things right this year. They did some moves at the deadline. I don't have to agree with all of the moves of the past but the jays DID make the playoffs.

Also, wouldn't surprise me if they traded Vlady.

Rumours were the NBA was reserving the Disney Bubble but the players got wind of it and were adament they wouldn't go back.

I heard on a radio show that both the NHL and NBA bubbles were difficult on the mental health of the players.

The other option for the players is to not play hockey and collect a bunch of money anymore. Or they try to expand the bubbles.

I like the idea of multiple bubbles and maybe include some family.

- Aaron_85

Obviously if they try to do it for a full season, they’ll have to go in chunks: play a quarter of season, take a break, re-test and come back.

Except that Hagg hits a helluva lot more than Dermott and blocks significantly more shots.

Hagg > Dermott.

I'd be surprised if the Leafs offered Travis anything more than 1.1-1.2M. They better not!

- mjones242

Is 50 something extra hits and 21 more blocked shots the difference between 1.6 and 1.1 these days?

Hagg should be better, he's two years older. The idea that they can have essentially identical offensive numbers at that point doesn't work very well for your argument. 🤷‍♂️

Except for the Doughty, Subban, Karlsson, Keith, Seabrook, Burns types...

Those guys are dropping off in a hurry.

- joel878

Seabrook was never as good as advertised; alot of that was Keith, who is now 37.

Subban/Karlsson/Burns were always dynamic offensive guys, not really guys you'd put out there in the last 2 minutes of the 3rd to protect a lead.

Doughty's had a couple of downish years, but he still was on pace for 45 points this year and his team is terrible. Still, that contract is untradeable unless the Kings are going to eat like 4M of that.

But yeah, I do worry that AP is more of that offensive guy than a rock we can count on to cover for Rielly and let him be dynamic/offensive.

Not sure I want another situation where we're having to take Rielly's PP1 time away to prop up AP's numbers like we did with Barrie.

Such a dumb and conflated statement.

Apple/iPhone can charge what it wants but CANNOT stop the rest of the world's tech companies from building and selling competitive phones for 20 years.

Every new drug gets a "free from competition" period allowing them to overcharge sick people a sh1t ton of money...and they have it for 20 fu2king years per product.

Generic drugs and competition in the Pharma world goes a long way in keeping the price down but not until years upon years of exclusive price gauging of sick people by the Big Pharma the created the drug/treatment.

Big Pharma makes WAY more than its share of profit. Fu3k Big Pharma.

- underhill14

Yes, because copyright doesnt exist for other products...
Fyi: if company a develops a new drug against disease x, company b, c and d cannot copy that drug -- but can still develop their own drug for same disease x.

What's the minimum quarantine time these days?

I'm just wondering how many breaks they could cram into an already tight schedule.

They should be looking too compliment Morgan, not someone who is going to bring the same kind of game.

"The fence that boxed us in, that made you feel like you were in more of a prison, kind of like an animal,"

People should not feel this way. Especially not so the rest of us can be entertained.

Teams will have to be able to have some normalish level of travel and interaction with their families. maybe a canadian and u.s. division.

people working at the grocery store etc. don't need to live in a bubble. hockey players shouldn't have to either.

I could see the league allowing buyouts without hits against the cap to help teams. I can also see the league and PA talking about contract rollback by say 10% for everyone to keep the league afloat.

If things are still crazy in a few months I think some drastic actions might have to be taken to stay afloat for all teams.

A prison with room service

I read the entire article the other day, it's really hard not to take a lot of it as 'I'm rich and this is not exactly what I wanted' levels of whining.

Your prison yard had a (frank)ing Tim Hortons coffee truck in it. 🤦‍♂️

I feel like there's only one option if they bubble again. They need to make the decision sooner than later and actually plan to allow players to do things and the government to let other families in.

It may sound crazy but an entire hotel just for the families to quarantine and Bogosian's family is a good example, 3 kids under 4? Maybe the hotel turns one room into a play room for those children for 14 days. It would be quite the process to bring everyone in safely but it can be done.

They said he just aggrvated his "core" injury again from March? It's weird. I hope it isn't career threatening.

That's what I'm saying.

AP isn't a classic "free wallet" like Tavares: we have to gut some depth and let some RFAs walk to sign him, so while not as harsh as having to trade a Nylander to fit him, moving on Dermott (only 23) and AJ (25, but reasonable deal), puts us in a bit of a bind for depth elsewhere.

If it was Parayko: done in a heart beat.

Good news is we are just a couple weeks away from being able to stop talking about AP non-stop!

I think he signs in St. Louis. Would be nuts for him to walk and sign for less than 9 million anywhere else. If he does though I hope it's Toronto!
