Agreed but you have Smith and #7 (Rossi or Holtz) on your list of young NJD players he fits well with. What are you giving the Flames for JOHNNY if not 1 of those assets? - DEDDIE
The NJ crop NOT playing in the NHL is pretty piss poor after Boqvist, Foote and Smith. The like to tout some of these other dman prospects, but they've got nothing. They need to hope that Hughes lives up to the bill this season or no serious FAs will want to come there.

So for left shot D the Habs have Edmundson, Kulak, Chairot and Romanov but will now sign Krug, who by the way has pretty much said he wants to get paid!! Even though they have no need on the left side and signing Krug means absolutely one of Domi or Danault gets moved cause they won’t have the cap space to sign Krug, Domi and the other 2-3 roster spots needed.
I’m not a Habs fan or would pretend to know this team extremely well but I’m not sure how this makes sense. - Ross77
It doesn’t, habs are done on d. They may move domi or danault but I suspect it’ll be for a winger, but I’m guessing besides grabbing depth players unless domi negations go bad the habs are pretty much done. |

Damn you gotta wonder what Bergy has cooking up in that lab of his. If he manages to sign Krug then you can move, Meat, Kulak and possibly even the recently acquired Edmundson for help up front.
Krug - Weber
Big Ben - Petey
Romanov/Edmundson - Fleury/Juulsen
That would be an awfully tough D to penetrate - Komisaurus Rex
And the only ones for any offense are Suzuki and Tater Tot Tomas

Would love Johnny hockey on Philly but much like a trade with the Leafs for Nylander. I just dont see the Flyers parting with the pieces to make this work. Unless the FLyers land a big FA Dman, I cant see them moving anyone named Sanheim or Myers. Provorov is untouchable.
Ghost's name has been in the rumour mill forever. He probably isnt moving anywhere and even if he does the Flyers would be selling low at this point. |

If you have Krug on your top pair, you are in for a LONG season and better score a ton of goals.

Nobody wants to play for the Devils. They're going to stink and Hughes is a bust.
Hughes will be very good....put a protector on his wing such as a Zach Kassian or even Palmari and a scoring winger on the other side such as Hoffman, Nylander, or Dadonov, and he will blossom! |

You are going to lose one if not two of kulak, mete and Juulsen to waivers if they are not dealt prior to year. Teams though know this.

Ok first, Montreal has already Charriot, Edmundson, Romanov, Kulak and Mete on left side. Krug would probably be the top LD MTL needs but I don’t see any of Charriot oR Edmundson thrown on the 3rd duo. That would kick out Romanov and Habs brought him here to give him a chance.
Second, Pierre LeBrun has already said MTL have no interest in Laine.
Third, nothing more to say. Thanks - MONSTERSofMETALZ
He also said they absolutely should. So what do you prefer to believe? That they have no interest or are idiots not to? |

I mean, I'm not rooting against him, but that was a bust of a season for a player touted to be a generational player. He basically could only score on the PP.

I think Bergy as his eyes on someone else. Laine is a good scorer but he has too many weakness that might not fits the Habs.
And Habs doesn’t like spending too much money on offensive guys. Sadly |

Krug's offensive flare would elevate playing along side a shutdown guy in Webs. He'd be afforded to take more chances on the offensive side knowing Weber was back. Krug also had his best years playing under Claude Julien.

Ghost, Frost and a pick. - CupOnBroadSt. No reason for the Flames to make that trade. JH is proven producer / Allstar who is signed for 2 more seasons to cap friendly contract. Something of quality must come back the other way...Ghost aint going to the Flames unless Backlund going the other way

100% they should be in on him for the right deal. The package I am seeing thrown around out there is too much. You can make a Laine deal without having to give up Caufield or Romanov. |

Bergevin submits an offer sheet to Sergachev say 6x6M. If TB doesn't match they get a 1st and a 3rd. MB could then trade Chiarot and Kulak for a couple of forwards or more picks. |

If Laine gets moved to The Sabres I’ll say this, one of these fan bases are going to be livid!!! I don’t see a fit here for what both fan bases would deem fair.
It’s either going to be Ristolainen and crappy parts which will cause Jets fans to lose their minds or it will be a package with one of Dahlen, cozens or 8th overall being included, Which I’d assume will irritate Sabre fans. - Ross77
If Dahlin is part of a package to get Laine, I’ll quit. Quit what, unsure, but I’ll be quitting |

He's not the same player he was under Julien. He has bulked up quite a bit in an attempt to compensate for his defensive shortcomings. That has come at the expense of his quick release and he has lost a step as well. He's 48th among defensemen in points 5 on 5. He's a power play specialist who is a defensive liability. I would love to keep him as a bottom pairing PP specialist but not at what teams are going to offer him. |

But, you don’t have any of those guys aside from Palmieri. Counting chickens and all that. I’m sure you could get Kassian. Ok. but Jersey really doesn’t get into bidding wars, so I’m doubtful on Hoff and Dadonov.
As for Nylander? Who do you have to trade that the Leafs will want? More importantly, who are you going to send to the Leafs and still have left over to trade with the Flames in exchange for JG? Wood? Boqvist? Gonna need more than those guys.
This all seems rather...unlikely.
Also, forget Rossi. The Devils are going to end up with a really nice player, but Rossi will be long gone. Could Perfetti slide? Perhaps. Holtz and Lundell have a good shot of being there. Really nice names. But honestly if I was NJ, I’d use this opportunity to snap up one of those high end defensemen that will be out there, and grab some forward talent in the picks after. I don’t think both Drysdale AND Sanderson go in the top 6. Just one of them. So count your blessings and grab a great defensive prospect for the long haul.
I think it still chaps the Devils that they picked Zacha over Provorov. I doubt they squander that opportunity again |

Could be he preferred Claude's system to Cassidy's. How much of this is Bruins fans kicking a player on the way out the door is what I would factor in as well. Is he an elite defender? no..but with what the Habs have on the left side and the need for an offensive element playing alongside Weber his defensive inefficiencies could likely be hampered with the defensive prowess Weber brings. |

Bergy has said no interest in Laine. He also said he wasn’t looking at moving Subban. He may be saying that ‘cause he doesn’t want the massive media attention. Laine will get a fwd, a defenceman and a pick. Then will be signed for at least $8.5mm.
Would prefer the other Finn who Edmonton needs to move. |
