I think Dubas realizes that it is going to be really hard to get a goalie as good as Andersen for under $4.5M - PatC80

Maybe but I'm sure he's got all his feelers out. The 500k in savings isn't worth the change and they may not be able to keep Kuemper next summer at 4.5 ...more Cap juggling.
Korpisalo or Georgiev or Demko ....maybe a 1 yr on Talbot or Crawford ...maybe a trade where the team keeps some salary to keep the AAV under 4 .....not sure that any of those are possible.
They had said the Pens had one standing offer on the table for Murray. Wouldn't surprise me if Dubas made that offer and the Pens are waiting to see what shakes out. Not sure what he'd cost on a 1 or 2 yr 'show me' deal. |

If the league loses a pile of money after the up & coming season (2020-2021), with COVID restrictions and all, could there be a chance of the cap actually reversing backwards instead of going up/staying flat? If that happens then there will be pain...for many teams!!! |

I think the new CBA states that the cap remains at 81.5 (flat) until revenues reach a certain number 4.8. So worst case is it remains flat.
Players 50% share of revenues is protected by the escrow Cap (20%) for the next two years then it reduces aggressively down below 10%. That tells me that the owners all strongly believe that they'll be back to making $$ in the 21/22 season. |

Only because the cap is probably flat for a couple years.
But yeah I think the league is starting to figure out that most goalies are about the same over the long haul. - BINGO![/quote
Right John Gibson and Petr Mrazek same goalie.. give your head a shake partner. |

Loved that guy.
MacLean's a Babcock guy - from the old school. interesting.
I think his son coaches with the Marlies so maybe a pretty easy connection. |
