Would something like JVR to Florida for Stralman make any sense? Seems like Florida could lose scoring in Hoffman/Dadnov as UFA's. They just traded Matheson maybe they do Gostisbehere and JVR?

Or is it totally off the wall?

Obviously there would need to be more coming back from Florida. Stralman has 2 years left at 5.5 million.

Or do you think there are better deals. Just looking for insight as it being a wierd season coming up I am not total sure what teams are going to do.

That's a deal that I might consider making but I disagree that would have to be more coming back from Florida. They'd be doing you a favor.

Today’s comments are a mess...here is what I can scrape out...

Flyers have in the range of 4-6 internal options for the 3C, but that is not enough for most. Folks want a sure thing 3C. Or in lieu of that an upgrade, also sure thing, 4C.

I really don’t think that exists. Sure you can make an plan, get an acquisition, but I don’t think of it as a guarantee. You don’t know if they will fit the system, work with the team chemistry or be immune from injury/illness.

If looking at d. Not sure what the contract demands would be. But always like zadorov. And now graves from the avs. Maybe ghost plus for one. Provie coul dB have a fellow Russian. Or graves with the physical presence. But don’t think the avs would bite.

A few years ago I was laughed at when I said we should send ghost to the oil for nurse. My how that would look today.

I want the bruising d man to round out our group.

Didn’t see anyone else and since it’s silly season. What about big buff. Haha

We have enough physical presence on the blueline. They need to continue to add skating, puck movement and skill to the blueline.

Yes what is your point? Your post was:

So to humour you I answered #5. No deal makes sense. You ask who is replaceable? Why would STL give up a piece that helped them win them a cup for "a replaceable" player?

Like I posted the ONLY replaceable players are Hagg, Ghost, NAK and Raffl. STL would never agree to take any of these players. No matter how you twist it. A deal for Bozak makes no sense for either team.

End of discussion!

- xShoot4WarAmpsx

Not twisting anything.

ok so they have no one on the roster who fits you said, so where is the hole being created?

A trade makes no sense really? Is it possible the blues retain some money and take back a late rd pick to create some cap space of their own?

I disagree that our blue line in physical. Isles had their way in front of our net.

I’m not holding my breath for any dramatic changes this year. If they can upgrade some thing in the middle 6, awesome. Otherwise I only see some minor changes. I guess we will see. They are in an awkward position where younger players are getting really close, but not close enough to go all in even if they had the cap space. See where you can make some improvements and hope the younger players take the next step. They showed they can be extremely competitive this year. If COVID doesn’t happen I think the playoffs look a lot different for the Flyers coming in with all that momentum. Not sure how much further they get or not, but i think they would have looked much better and probably get to the ECF.

That's going to happen when you play a lot in your own end. The player you want doesn't fix that. Don't need a bruiser. Need more skill in the lineup. Attack rather than defend.

How much are they retaining? The Flyers still need to sign Myers, Hagg, and a backup goalie. They have under 8 million of available cap space according to capfriendly.

I don't see it.

edit: and Patrick, but he should probably just get a Q/O.

Is it possible the flyers can move ghost or hagg to then create some of their own cap space?

People acting like they have no options to get cap space or a deal is so outlandish. My guess is I could see the blues eating 2 million if it is for a pick or prospect.

Also to the previous person just curious why you think the blues would not take back laughton, raffle, or NAK if they are looking for cap space by moving Bozak?

Right. But you need to be able to defend to attack. Defense leads to offense.

I see the Leafs have hired MacLean as an assistant to go with Malhotra hired a few days ago. Yet Hakstol still has a job? I guess somebody has to get the coffee.

The hole is the fact you have to either trade Laughton or someone else on the roster. If a hypothetical deal were to take place, STL wouldnt take our replaceable player. They would want something else. Laughton or better. Again this is all moot because a trade for Bozak is almost impossible.

Here you go again contradicting yourself. You said STL move Bozak to shed space yet, you talk about them taking players of equal cap hit and then eating salary......

Secondly you dont trade a 3C for a 4th line player. Moving Laughton for Bozak is a downgrade.

This is where you are incorrect. They dont have to trade any roster player for him. It can be a pick or prospect. A trade is not almost impossible. That is your opinion.

Just curious why you think they wouldn't take Laughton, raffle, or Nak if they are looking for cap savings? I would trade Laughton for him as it addresses a need the Flyers have currently. Can find a winger more easily than a center.

Where did i say they will take back equal cap hit? Please show me this. I said they could retain if only getting a pick or prospect back.

It isnt a downgrade as Laughton isnt a 3rd line center. If he was the Flyers would have him slotted there don't you think? Yes a downgrade for the Blues I agree.

Correct me if I’m wrong but Jimmy Dowd and Blair Betts were both tryouts? Years of passed experience and you know what you’re getting.

Maybe some of us don't like putting money up on something that we have zero control over...or just don't give a (frank) about sports betting.
- jmatchett383

That’s fair enough. Was a general response to naysayers who say my picks trash. I used too just joke pick to stir the pot. Last 2 weeks I posted exactly what I was taking. And as I hit big like I usually do. Not alway but probably 65-70 % of the time I proved it. Again for the naysayers not for everyone. They know who they are and I hope they bet against me. Gives me double the laughs

Let’s get one of those 2nd rounders from Ottawa for Ghost and get some cap room. They have 7 picks in the 1st two rounds. I’ve got to imagine they have some interest in dealing something.

If they end up with the cap space to afford one more solid vet for the 4th line, I’m all for it. What I ask earlier was what elements are you looking for in that guy...assuming we can get him for a bargain. We have two of Raffl, Laughton and NAK on the 4th line now. What is it we need?

Bingo right there. No way Ottawa doesn’t wheel and deal some picks. No way ghost isn’t moved by the draft the latest. Someone gonna give that pick for him. Or package deal.

Holy poop. I just looked at Ottawa’s roster. They only have 3 forwards locked up right now and two of them only have a year left on their deal. They have 6 forward RFAs but still. Not much certainty going on there.

Only 4 D men under contract too lol. Are we sure this isn’t an expansion team?

Of course at Louis does that trade. As he said Scott is currently better.
