Well you answer was no holes. No players on the roster would have to go. Just picks or prospects. But as I stated and others pointed out as well. His cap hit is 5 mil. How do you fit that under the cap?
Even trading prospects or picks create holes. Not directly to the line up immediately but it does. - Peter Richards
Dude...
Just trade for Bozak, okay? Just do it. He's a good fit at 3C. Just trade for him. |

I think Bozak is the type of guy with a 1 year contract that the Flyers could use as a safety blanket for NoPa.
It just doesn't work with the cap. After the Flyers sign all of the RFA's and Elliot they will have $1-1.5mil left over if they are lucky.
Blues eat $2.5mil of Bozak. Flyers still need to find someone that makes $1mil or so to trade.
Of course we could trade Ghost and take back Bozak and something else. I was hoping for more of a return on Ghost.
Bozak is a trade deadline pick up if the Flyers get him. - mickel25
don't mind bozak, getting him and being cap compliant is where the problem lies. but he didn't offer anything in figuring out how to make the cap work.
I still prefer trying out some internal options to getting bozak though.

If Patrick comes back, it's a moot point.
But having someone as a safety blanket would be nice. |

Not that it matters, but I'm assuming it's a one-way? |

I assume so as well. Bill mentioned it as him being the third goalie. I guess the league needs to figure what they are doing with the AHL guys if the AHL does not play.
I would also assume the league would allow teams to have three goalies with the team in case of injury. Maybe like a practice squad scenario.
***Update-confirmed one way contract. |

1. The are looking to cut cost and his name has been out there.
2. correct. Even io not on his list they can ask him as its not a cut and dry well he has them blocked.
3. If they are looking to save money they wont want much back.
4. No poop.
5. Jesu Christ who would they have to give that they cant replace? Please provide me just one name who they would have to give to acquire Bozak that they cant replace
Yeah trade for mcdavid d great comparison. - login
Who on the team can they give up that STL would want that also fits Cap wise?
Your arguments make no sense. You say they want to shed cash but in order for the deal to work they have to take cap back for him to fit on our team. Lets look at our roster here.
Giroux for Bozak? Nope Giroux has NMC
Hayes? Nope NTC
Voracek, Niskanen or JVR for Bozak? Nope counter productive to shedding cap and PHI would
never agree to trading Voracek for Bozak
Couturier, Farabee, Lindblom, Konecny, Myers, Sanheim, Provorov, Hart or NoPa? Sure if we had Chiarreli as our GM
Pitlick, Grant Thompson, Elliott? Nope FA
So that leaves, Laughton, Ghost, Hagg and NAK
PHI would never agree to deal Laughton and maybe even Ghost for Bozak
STL wouldnt want Hagg
NAK wouldnt be enough alone + looks bad on GM to trade a player shortly after signing him.
STL wouldnt have any interest in Ghost. They dont need a Dmen even if they lose AP. They have 5 D signed and Dunn as RFA. Plus the deal only gets them 500k in releif and a hole at 3C
So basically no one on our roster fits.

Would something like JVR to Florida for Stralman make any sense? Seems like Florida could lose scoring in Hoffman/Dadnov as UFA's. They just traded Matheson maybe they do Gostisbehere and JVR?
Or is it totally off the wall?
Obviously there would need to be more coming back from Florida. Stralman has 2 years left at 5.5 million.
Or do you think there are better deals. Just looking for insight as it being a wierd season coming up I am not total sure what teams are going to do.

Straight up JvR for Stralman, probably. Lower AAV and less term. |

Just me. I would rather have jvr over stralman. If same age I take stralman. He was ok this past season but not the player he used to be. |

I like that Stralman could play on your 3rd pair this year and then once Niskanen moves on maybe he is a guy you can pair with York or Zamula as a vet presence.

If looking at d. Not sure what the contract demands would be. But always like zadorov. And now graves from the avs. Maybe ghost plus for one. Provie coul dB have a fellow Russian. Or graves with the physical presence. But don’t think the avs would bite.
A few years ago I was laughed at when I said we should send ghost to the oil for nurse. My how that would look today.
I want the bruising d man to round out our group.
Didn’t see anyone else and since it’s silly season. What about big buff. Haha |

I was speaking more to his PK abilities, not his scoring. - jmatchett383
Top six two way players are always going to be better than bottom six players in every area of the game. Rod Brind’Amour, Mike Richards and Sean Couturier are two way centers with ability. I’m never gonna compare Betts, Lapointe or Dowd to Brind’Amour, Richards are Couturier. My point is, to find these guys who make next to nothing but work hard for every minute their on the ice and maybe specialize in something like penalty killing, faceoffs or grinding out a game to a point where they’re wearing the other team down. |

Yes what is your point? Your post was:
So to humour you I answered #5. No deal makes sense. You ask who is replaceable? Why would STL give up a piece that helped them win them a cup for "a replaceable" player?
Like I posted the ONLY replaceable players are Hagg, Ghost, NAK and Raffl. STL would never agree to take any of these players. No matter how you twist it. A deal for Bozak makes no sense for either team.
End of discussion! |
