I'd like to know why Karine Hains was not making the Habs pick? Nothing against the person who made the pick but shouldn't the person who does one hundred per cent of the blogging for the team make some sense? If you're going to do it, do it right. - Hardbalz
Karine picked last year for the mock draft. I posted in the blog that I would be running this again and asked for volunteers. A few individuals asked to make the Montreal selection, which is how I made the decision. As seen, trying to have people who comment make the picks as much as possible rather than the the team's bloggers from the site. In addition, given the number of choices available at the spot, the Lapierre selection was not viewed as a major reach. I will try and make sure to do it right for the future. |

10 All-Stars in the first round of that draft
You had a better-than-one-in-three chance of drafting an All-Star, the Bruins had three picks, and drafted zero - eichiefs9
Where would they be if they took Barzal... |

and Chabot and Connor
They could have blasted that ball out of the park. DeBrusk is decent but I'm not even sure the other two are NHL'ers. |

man the Devils, I am not trolling here because the Rangers have certainly had their (frank) ups, but if they took Werenski (or Provorov) instead of Zacha 5 years ago, OMG, they'd be in great shape - jimbro83
If only the Rangers had taken Anthony Cirelli instead of Robin Kovacs or Ryan Gropp |

after I typed that I checked out a whole bunch of mock drafts from 2015 and it seemed like almost every one I come across had the Devils taking Zacha - jimbro83
True, that is mainly because a "big center" was a need for the Devils; the illusion was their young Dmen would become regulars - John Merrill, Eric Gelinas, Steve Santini, etc....NONE of that worked out for the Devils and here we are today. |

There are even some really high-end non-all-stars in that round. Provorov, Meier, Connor, Samsonov, Beauvillier
2015 was a hell of a draft and not just because of McDavid/Eichel |

10 All-Stars in round one and the Rangers had zero picks. The last vestige of the Dark Ages. |

I think if you make the final 4, trading the first rounder is worth it
like the Islanders this year, can't complain |
