Arizona does it to shed salary and they receive a starting goalie only earning $1M in salary this year.

Wouldn't split up the core 4 yet...if Petro is going to be too expensive I would pass reluctantly and just go after one or two lesser defense by making space via Kerfoot, Anderson, Johnsson, Holl or Dermot......getting rid of Nylander or Marner would just have everyone saying down the road.....our offense is not strong enough

Only reason I'd do it was if I'd then flip Laine somewhere else.

Trade him to Anaheim for the #6th pick in this draft and Manson and whatever else makes sense. Draft Drysdale or Askarov.

Also, I think Montreal might trade for Laine.
