I would have said the same thing before that interview. We shall see. I think JR will find a way to dump him. Probably cost us an asset and/or salary retention. Like others have speculated...part of a Murray trade. |

I wonder how much of a disconnect there is between fans' value of Murray and how GM's value him, if there is one at all. |

We've obviously all seen the New Amsterdam commercial 139,404 times, but there's one part I love every time I see it. When Whit says "or is Paul miss-the-net?" The look on Biz's face is great. He looks legitimately hurt by the comment lol |

There's like 19 other available goalies and I feel the dumb GMs are more likely to give a Holtby a terrible contract than overpay for Murray. |

Holtby getting a stupid contract is a given. I'm totally expecting something like $6/$6.5M over six years.
That said. I'm not asking if GM's will overpay, but fans all over the boards and other boards barely think he's worth a 3rd. I guess is what fans expect the return to be vs. what GM's feel he's worth; is there a difference?
Basically, is there a chance GM's value him more than fans do? |

I've been thinking JJ is on the way out for a while. There are so many possibilities and I don't think it will be as bad as people think. He has a cheap buyout and even retaining half means only $1.625M per for 3 years. Not ideal, but not terrible, either for us or the acquiring team. I think attaching him to Murray might be too complicated and too much money for the acquiring team.
I think this last playoffs removed any doubt and JR has finally swallowed his ego. Way too many LD signings and acquisitions for this not to be the case. Even without JJ we have too many LDs, FFS. |

Yeah I was reading some proposed trades for laine by “pro hockey writers” and I really felt most of the trades were quite underwhelming so who knows. |

At the end of the season, I honestly could not tell if JR was "supporting his player" and trying to keep some semblance of a JJ trade alive OR he was WILLFULLY BLIND. It was definitely the former. Maybe that's why he trashed Schultz so badly. Laying the blame for that sh!t show against the Habs on Schultz. Totally classless by the way. I lost a lot of respect for JR for those comments.
Anyway... I agree JJ's contract is not tooooo bad to dispose of creatively. He's definitely gonna be gone. Madden did a good job of asking all the pertinent questions. Especially about Dumo and Petts.....They'll be staying for sure. Rossi is still a total ass. |

There is always the possibility a GM decides he HAS to have Murray and we get absurd value for him. There is probably an equal possibility no GM really wants Murray and we get next to nothing for him. I'm bracing myself for the likely middle ground where we get something, but not anything useful for the purposes of the Sid/Geno Era. |

I guess I hope there’s a GM who values him enough that he would take JJ in order to get him, but I feel like that’s very unlikely. |

That's probably the least likely scenario. Murray is probably getting $4 mil + depending on if he's bridged or given a serious contract. A team taking JJ to take Murray would be essentially agreeing to take Murray for $7 mil + which is just unrealistic. |

Maybe another team doesn't mind buying him out. |

Listening to Pittsburgh sports radio the last few days I hear “Sid and Geno era” over and over. The best way to extend it is to drop the whole Speed, SPeed, SPEED!!!! Thing. Quit shoving speed down the throats of two players that have declining speed. Mike Sullivan’s game plan is pretty much go play with speed. That’s it. I remember a younger much faster Sid playing pretty well with the skeleton of Bill Guerin. It takes the right players. Not just fast ones. Scorey Perry just scored in the Stanley cup final as I type this. My point exactly. |

Simon or Sheary wouldn’t have scored that goal. Seguin got the assist because of Perry. |

They try. I’d take Corey Perry doing it instead though. I think the numbers are in my favor. But let’s keep jamming the speedy gohards out there and hoping they tall turn into Bryan Rust. |
