They're beasts. They're kind of the internet fad, but they're used widely in restaurants. They build a great non-stick surface after the initial seasoning and more you use it. The big advantage with carbon steel is they don't need the same level of up-keep of cast iron and you can cook acidic foods with no problem.
There's a lot of cheap one flying around internet, but after research the brand I landed on is De Buyer. Avoid the ones from China (I'll be waiting on Feds' joke here). They're lighter and garbage. - Rinosaur
Cool, thanks for the info. I started looking them up. I'll try one out! Maybe I'll use my cast iron pans for Ruth's head... |

I'd take a reduced return for Murray if JJ gets moved. - madmike71
I had always pegged Murray's value at a 3rd and I thought it would take at least a 3rd to move JJ, so if we get a conditional 7th for them, that's fine with me. But the 7th has to be conditional, the conditions I don't know. |

I never seen Matheson play. How did he get that good if a contract if he wasn't decent? Does he hit? Can he distribute the puck? Run the powerplay? - nateca44
Because Dale Tallon is bad at his job. |

Sometimes I wish there was no salary cap and the Pens could sign all these crazy players to come here, but then I see where it can go wrong. If JR had a blank check...

I'm going to assume this is just GM-speak during the waning days of the pre-draft/FA period. But, then again, JR seems to be a mad scientist who is losing his grip on reality. - Hockey66
All he's missing is Doc Brown's hair. Oh and the Delorean, he gonna need that to fix this team. |

He was actually thought to be their next big defenseman. Then he just seemed to regress when they asked more from him. He has a great shot. He likes to be aggressive with the puck kinda like a Letang or Schultz. He hits hard. He has a pretty good pass. He has bad defensive positioning much like Schultz and JJ. He will block shots and hit people though. He is a very strong player so his checks can do some damage and his shot is strong. I think he may be someone we use for the PP with Letang. I think our PP will have a different look without Hornqvist. |

Honestly, I think C. Tanev at $3.5M would be worse than Matheson at $4.875M. I think C. Tanev is old, injury-prone hot garbage. |

Yeah... Just sounds like non-committal BS. He's got plans to move a LD. |

You'll love it. De Buyer is a great brand, too. I've emailed them a few times with questions they actually answer back. You'll see lots of different videos and tutorials on how to season and care for these things, but they set me straight.

He'd sign Tanev to a 10 year $7M contract.

Pushes him out as in JJ gets moved before the season starts, or beats him out for a spot and gets moved during the season? - Rinosaur
Not sure which but one of them. They need to move more salary for stuff. |

Sounds decent to me. Hornquist was going to be on the 3rd line anyways. I like his style of play but how much more could he offer? Im thinking Jj gets moved with Murray for little. That helps open more room. |

I think Sceviour is a good defender and we need to replace Horny in the bottom six. - Hockey66
Meh. Youve been saying you want more scoring punch in bottom 6...not really getting it here... He's 31 years old and I believe oft injured, though I could be wrong. Probably declining hahah |

I’m not a fan of jr or sully anymore but it will be interesting to see the next domino. I could see dumo and petts going.

He's an average 4th liner who plays a little physical. He plays about the same number of games Hornqvist does.

Oh, I agree, I'm just responding to why they had him thrown in. Our bottom six is significantly worse after this trade. |

I have a big ass De Buyer pan. Its pretty darn good but damn expensive. Got it as a gift, and I like it a lot but its like a $130 pan, don't think id pay for it myself. |

I'm ok with all of this but not sure about playing Riikola on his off-side. Would rather that than C. Tanev, though. |

I'm cool with that but I just have this feeling that JJ is staying put. Why wouldn't they have moved him first if they had a deal for him? I just dont have a good feeling... |

It almost assuredly does. But wow is our bottom six scoring going to suck. A lot of good defenders, though. |
