Malkin talking extension with the Pens?

I thought he wanted to be "The Man."

If it weren’t for the fact that Rutherford has demonstrated he’s willing to spite his own face just to make this team younger and faster on paper, I would say that Bobby Ryan is actually a really good target for our bottom 6.

Ottawa (and Detroit) are in prime positions to be dumping grounds to get to the cap floor

They could get quite the haul or prospects/picks to take on those 6 million dollar cap hits that have 2-3 million in actual cash

Maybe there is something to the way they tore it down? I kinda hope that's the route we got when its time

Tank and be a dumping ground for bad contracts for 3 or so years then transition to all the youth on cheap ELC's

Detroit will be at the floor in no time. Don’t need any of your poopty contracts to do that.

I would absolutely take him on a one year contract somewhere between $1-$2M. Do the same with Kovy on the other side and we could have a potent third line.

Kovy-McCann-Ryan

I'd feel pretty good about that. A third line for the cost of a fourth line.

But why not eat some poop and get picks for it? Yummy yummy poop that could maybe turn into an extra poopty pick at a deadline deal to a desperate contender?

Lol proves how good THW is. He literally can’t sign an extension until next summer.

Yeah sure I will take assets that have actual value but pit doesn’t have any of those.

The Dallas Stars are showing this year you can make a deep run with an old team. I think they're the oldest team though I might be wrong. Yes, they have good young players sprinkled throughout their lineup, but so could the Pens.

So in short, I'd be fine with that line. If you could get them both for 3/3.5 mill...well...thats JJ's cap hit hahaha

You have no assets I want. Poulin isn’t enough. Unless you’re willing to give me an unprotected 2022 1st I’m not interested.

Reminds me way too much of 2014 when Shero and Bylsma eventually both were let go. Think the same thing needs to happen here. JR has already blown out the window for the Crosby and Malkin era. They need to move on from him before he digs a hole so deep that the Pens are at eye level with the Pirates.....

It amazes me that a crowd that hates JJ so much--I cant stand him as a player either--constantly rakes RW over the coals for saying the same thing. The fancy stats and charts might annoy you, but clearly we are seeing with JR that the eye test alone fails miserably. Need a combination of the two. I have lost my faith in JR--I dont trust anything he does at this point--and just hope my young daughters (oldest is 2) will get to see another playoff run before they graduate HS

They also have a heiskanen and stellar goaltending.

Goaltending is a fickle thing. Khudobin is 34 and on his 6th NHL team. No one saw this coming from him 4 years ago. Good chance he never does this again.

Jarry played like an allstar last year...he could again...and maybe he never does again.

Marino could get better yet.

Any time a line is proposed, do it in all lower case letters and add a "wow"

Palmer was great simple comic relief

He had 3 or 4 straight seasons of less than .910 SV% and +2.60 GAA before the last 3 seasons.
