I looked through all the possible buyouts last night Roussels name was the second best option but he still has trade value.

Beagle savings this year would be 1.6 mil and next year .666K and two following years of 666K. He is only owed 4.4 mil in actual money in the next two years combined less 30%. Buyout would cost 3.4. There is no actual savings . Sending him down would have higher cap relief over 2 years. In other words 2 more years of the Beagle as a Canuck

Sutter

Can’t be relied on to stay healthy and the injuries have ruined his speed

Him and Pearson are similar in their rush/shot first mentality. Nothing wrong with that, they just need someone to compliment them. I don't think Brock is that guy, though.

Like PacG said, getting him a passing winger would be ideal.

This makes it even more confusing to be trying to re-sign Toffoli so hard.

I know this debate could go on for pages but people have got to stop thinking there is only one solution. Look at Vegas and Toronto with their horrible cap hit and are rumored to be the top bidders on a 8 mil plus Pietrangelo.

There are many ways to get the roster you want. Do you really care if you lose Jake and pick up Debrusk? I don't . I would be very surprised if you see Gaudette back as a 3 C

Any buyouts would most likely be to save the owners real dollars, not cap dollars, as not many of the candidates for buyouts would actually save you much in terms of salary cap space.

I’m surprised you bolded something negative that Lefty posted and gave it a thumbs up

Letting Markstrom, your clubs MVP, walk is risky but it’s infinitely better than signing another older player to an expensive long term contract.

Tanev, not a big deal, happens all the time. Toffoli however is a double edged sword, they gave up a decent prospect and a 2nd round pick for him at the deadline. For a bubble team that’s a lot to give up if he walks away for nothing.

For the record I was for the trade, I was of the opinion the kids needed a shot at making the playoffs. But the same goes for Toffoli as it does for Markstrom, we don’t need to sign a declining 28 year old player to an expensive long term contract.

If I was Benning I’d tell them all to fcuk off and concentrate on my RFA’s and then make some trades. Not really his strength but here’s to hoping

Marky and TT aren't declining right now, they're at their peaks. Them declining is based off the term on their contracts. What was rumored the other day that JB was offering them was 4 year deals, which I think is okay for TT.

I'm pretty fine with Marky walking. Lots of goalies in the market, and Demko has to grow at some point.

Rumored Boston is interested in him, could be part of a package for a RHD.

True, I think they’ll both start declining in two to three years, which would only be halfway through their contracts.

Hopefully he doesn’t budge on the term, 5 years for either of them would be

Virtanen needs to be moved, as does Stecher, and possibly Gaudette....not to mention Sutter, Roussel and Beagle

I think this is what he is doing. I think he offered Marky 4.5 two year deal and Marky will go somewhere else. I don't think it is too risky with all the goalie UFAs .

He pretty much is doing what you asked ( not going long term).

Apparently they're more concerned with signing TT now, Marky better start shopping for snow tires.

Our bottom six is one of the worst in the league, right after defence this needs to be addressed.

Buying out Sutter costs 3.333 mil in actual dollars over two years as opposed to his actual salary next year is 3.5 mil less 30 %

Just about every player would get more money in buyouts than letting the contract run the course. Ferland is one of the only players with no signing bonus or AAV variance.

Toffoli is the wild card IMO . Once he is confirmed then you can shop one of Jake or Brock. There are about 11 or more goalies that can back up short term.

Does Boston have any cap room?
They should package a later pick with Jake and add one our boat anchors for cap relief.

Didn't it come out that they offered him term(5 or 6 years) as long as there wasn't a NMC? Then he asked for more money in exchange and that's why it's gone nowhere.
