In other words - if I'm stlouis, I would try to convince ap to resign (8y deal) up until the last minute and not provide him with alternatives (8y deal with leafs or another team) |

His NTC limits who STL can do a sign and trade with. That makes it harder to drive up the cost. Less demand = less cost. - Canada Cup
Also, if Pietrangelo wants to be a Leaf, he can just sign a 7 yr deal as a UFA |

both sides have an argument.
get something or nothing. a stl fan should be annoyed if they could have taken a 4th and end up with nothing - senstroll
Not sure that St Louis has any reasonable bargaining power in this situation. If they make room to sign him ok, but until that happens, why buy the cow when you get the milk for free?

yeah, im not interested in giving up a 1 or 2 at all... something later than that..or take the chance on him in UFA and 7 years
also, this is all probably just posturing on both sides...he will end up back in stl - senstroll
Ewww ya wouldn't pay that price. The only gain for the Leafs is about 500-750k of cap space. Would trade a 1st for that. |

It wouldn't be worth it at all.. If that is the ask in this hypothetical situation, I'd rather the Leafs take their chances if/when AP gets to free agency |

Might be the difference is AP staying in STL (bc of the 8y contract) or AP signing in Toronto. It's not just the 750k aav. I am not a big fan of leafs signing AP, but I don't think the 1st would be an overpayment |

Stl has pick #26
maybe an AP signed 8 year deal to the leafs with #26 for pick 15

Alex Pietrangelo would prefer Toronto over St Louis because the Subway cars are covered in raw aluminum instead of enamel paint |

I've heard from a good source that Pietrangelo's first choice would actually be the Islanders because he's a big fan of Long island ice tea. |

You know what the results of that voting tells me? That they're all morons because Lou winning it makes even less sense than Dubas winning it. - GreatGigInTheSky
Yes they are morons.
but Lou winning makes more sense than dubi winning it for sure.
Dubi
Made a unsuccessful trade that simply back fired. Even though I still understand why it was done and I liked the trade when it occurred.
Traded out Dman Jordan Schmaltz
Acquired Campbell and Clifford - I like this trade.
Team doesnt make playoffs.
D still has holes.
Lou
Signed varlamov
Acquired JG pageau...which turned out pretty good for them in the post season
Traded for Andy Greene
Made it to the conf finals.
Not great accomplishments for either, but clearly one had a better year. |

Blues can’t demand that much since AP has a No Trade. They can only deal with someone he’s prepared to move to so that limits the price. - Canada Cup
If he agrees to an 8 year sign and trade.
that brings up the price. |

More like Max who thinks STL can demand anything for the rights of a sign and trade |
