My lunch plans have changed, thanks to my dog eating the loaf of bread sitting on the counter.

Franking dog.

Rakell had 1 good playoffs. He' s been pretty poop aside from that. And we don't even know if he'd be available.

I'm tired of hearing how Leaf players have no value but inferior players do.

- RogerRoeper

I don't say Nylander has no value.
I'm just pointing out I think Rackell and his 3.8aav contract have more value to most teams than Nylander at 6.9aav.
Hintz - he needs a new contract, but obviously prefer him over Willie as well.
Some others are there as well.

In some cases, sure. In other cases, which may be few, it's smart to lock up a guy with an NMC who you likely would never want to part with.
- mjones242

Those players are rare.
Would a 30/31 year old be a guy that a gm would know he would never want to part with in 5-6 years?
A 22 year old mcdavid, sure thats easy, lock him up.

that's the key to me. we need to be able to clear money in a deal. makes it a little tougher to get real good value.

but does it matter?

nylander for a late 1st, 2nd, and an good/okay prospect sounds meh.

nylander for AP, a late 1st, 2nd and a couple prospects is a deal you make all day everyday.

and i like nylander. i think he could be a 1,000 point player before he hangs them up.

I would like to think if the idea is to use a guy like Nylander as a 'cap dump', you're looking at it all wrong right out of the gate. But... All normalcy is off the table during this market when it comes to a guy like AP, so who knows what's right and wrong.

If they decide against the AP route, trading Willie for a defender makes the most sense. You could probably get a high quality RHD with some term and maybe even save some bucks on the cap in the process. Use the extra dollars towards a guy like Demelo, and still have your initial cap space to handle the RFA's and fill the roster out.

The more I read the more I believe they are viewing trading Willie at all as a non starter, so who knows. Interesting position the team is in, they could choose to go a pile of different routes or select 'none of the above'.

Your comment doesn't make any sense in reply to what I wrote.
Another player that has more value is Larkin at 6.1aav

There's worse.

I had a pitbull terrior and Alaskan husky mix as puppies. Between the two of them they've eaten everything from the living room set to portions of the dishwasher and actual dishes. Drywall, baseboards, bed frame, our (frank)ing clothes...

And these are dogs that were kennel trained whenever no one is around to watch them, you so much as have a shower while they're out and you're house is (frank)ed.

Pretty sweet dogs now that they're 3-4 but holy hell...

Our last lab wouldn't eat bananas or uncooked mushrooms.

Everything else was a treat, including eating two large cans of baby formula powder over a two week span.

I was going to punish her for that, but let's just say I couldn't derive a punishment that would be 1/10th of how her body punished her. The key word here is "explosive."

Yeah, current dog is excellent about not eating furniture, clothes, shoes, etc. She ate a bit of drywall as a puppy, and a pair of my daughter's topsiders that she literally had never worn (got them in the winter, dog ate them before spring).

But any food left within reach - and she's pretty agile - and you are franked.

Last week was a pie. A whole franking pie. Thank god she didn't drag it onto a rug or couch.

Nylander to the Sens, that have some young talent. They probably need the cap hit and the small actual price it costs.

Not sure about the whole list, but Marner - Tavares taking on most of the other teams big lines. ( 2018-2019 )

Not sure about this year with injuries etc.

nashville is a team that seems to have multiple options to work out a deal.

something like ellis and stuff for nylander and things could work.

they also have tolaven, both this year's and next year's 1st and a 2 2nd this year.

if you can get nylander for tolaven, a 1st, a 2nd and sign AP than the team is in a better position than it was.

cap space is an asset. i don't see many other teams out there that can take on nylander without sending a contract back.
