Pesce is a good solid top 4, but I wouldnt trade Nylander for him.

In a perfect world, Johnsson alone would be enough to get Parayko, but that's not gonna happen..

It would cost us Nylander to get Colton Parayko

I think Blues, while wanting Nylander might be more out for cheap assets as they have big cap issues.

Marner is worth the extra 4M. He is a different animal than BillNy and a far more complete player.

Marner puts up way more apples, Nylander scored twice as many goals. If that debate can even happen then it's absurd to say Marner is the better keep at 4 million more.

There was a trade rumour floating around of AJ, 1st, Lillybust for Parayko.

If we can't land Petro, perhaps there's a deal like that to be made for CP?

Why would Florida make that trade? Trading their best defenseman? Getting no defenseman coming back? How does this improve their team? You're only looking at it from a Leafs perspective.

All very cheap areas to fill.

Which gives you 9.5 cap space for ekblad that is 7.5 per.
That leaves you 2m for 4-5 roster spots

My point exactly. We need better than Pesce in a return.

Those Pesce rumours started when Nylander was playing horrible last year after his signing. His value has skyrocketed. No one seems to have noticed.

Blues won't get much more than that in an offer for Payko.

The leafs don't *need* a top pair D. They aren't structured in a fashion to accommodate that. They need balance throughout their lineup, and that is not accomplished by stacking the top end. Just look at the forward group as evidence.

I really don't know if Marner is worth $4M more a year than Nylander. That's a huge gap.
