Wow I stand corrected, Bettman says they intend to have an 82 game schedule. I'll be impressed if they pull it off. |

They have been saying that for months. Nobody believes it. I think its Sir Wedginald here that says there's no way networks let the NHL run into the expected olympic dates. |

I was wondering, because I've read articles with team sources saying there's no way they do 82. Guess the league has to try for the most optimistic scenario but it I'll believe when I'm watching game 82. |

And a play in round if there are teams within a point or two of the Leafs. |

Friedman on Headlines confirms Alex Pietrangelo will hit the open market, it's not a bluff. There was little to no progress in contract talks with the #STLBlues.

A couple of things from the interview in the Athletic - the guy is articulate as hell and seems pretty centred. Hangups on the structure were NMC and bonuses in the last two years of the contract which would guarantee a cash payout if he gets bought out.
If the money really isn’t a problem, these seem fixable even if Armstrong doesn’t do NMCs. Other possibility is that no deal is happening because they need money for Paryko and this is just face saving.
I can’t see that the last two year thing would be a deal breaker for Leafs. - Canada Cup
I know STL won a cup but they are bottom 10 in terms of revenue the last decade.
In this climate it is hard for a team like them to guarantee a 37 year old a huge bonus that might not even be playing for them.
And a NMC means they cant freely trade him with picks to get another team to buy him out.
From STL perspective I get it. |

So 6.1m in space, and needing to sign minimum 3-4 forwards, and 2-3 d-men. Somehow Pietro for ~ 8m too?
Hope springs eternal.. or desperation never dies |

I wonder if Leafs can sneak Lawson Crouse away from the Yotes. Our bottom six could use the size and grit. |

Except Faulk got given a NTC. Pretty sure St. Louis knew all along it was unlikely they were able to keep AP happy.
I will have a hard time seeing a young family with 4 kids 3 and under go anywhere without a great support system.
Pretty sure a reason JS Giugere came here was because of sick kids, or that's what I heard around the time.

I would try to move Marner for AP.
I know everyone wants Nylander gone and I get it. However Marner would bring back more in a trade plus he frees up more cap space to keep filling out the roster with quality. |

Nylander has a really nice contract if he continues his pace from this season. I think he's more valuable to the Leafs than a lot of people think. |

I think so too.
I'm only on the AP train because if it happens I might as well enjoy it! Not like my disdain for it helps. |

One dimensional floater riding JT/AM’s coattails.
Has no concept of playing defence. His contract is brutal, that’s why no one wants him even though Kyle is shopping him like a stolen PlayStation on Kijiji. |

1.) the stats do not support this argument at all.
2.) you have zero idea what Dubas is or isn't shopping. At all, whatsoever.
3.) why would they shop the death out of a guy you're on record saying is basically useless to the point they'd have to retain salary to get rid of him. Can't have it both ways. |
