True, but if he leaves St. Louis he'll get cheered and treated well every time he visits, Blues fans more knowledgeable and respectful than trailer trash Islander fans

Like I said, I don’t blame him for trying. But he failed. Missing the playoffs is a nuclear option failure. A little advice, don’t get too attached to anyone in sports, especially a GM or coach.

It's certainly a risk to bet long term on Pietro. But people are massively overestimating how often defenseman of his caliber become available. (Even less often than #1 centerman). This is the Leafs only realistic chance to get a true #1 defense pairing.
Take the chance. These are the risks I'm fine with the Leafs taking because it is for top end talent.

I think the Leafs would be fine if they picked up a couple defensively minded dmen. Don’t worry about defence putting up points. Petro is really good, but I don’t think they should spend big money on him.
