One of my favorite QB's, I wish we would have kept him.
- SABRES 89

Why? There's a reason he's never played in a playoff game. He's in his 16th year and has one season where he's won more games than he's lost. He's not that good. Oh sure, he'll string together a few games where he looks unbeatable, the beginning of the year 2 years ago for example when he threw for over 1200 yards and 11 TDs in the first three games, but then come the 126 yard 0 TD 1 INT games, and his final game that year was 167 yards 0 TD 3 INT.

That's Fitzpatrick.

If you can filter out the noise there is some pretty amazing content on there though for free.

Filtering out the noise is an art form in itself though

He is easy to appreciate now because he isnt here losing games anymore

It’s a forum for the uninformed.

I’ll be completely honest I’ve probably tweeted a handful times in the last 10 years but I am on Twitter a lot during the day to read up on news, Fintwit (financial twitter), and get all my sports updates and discussions.

I’d honestly pay for a lot of the technical analysis provided by industry professionals that I see on a daily basis for free.

I guess it ultimately depends on what you are trying to get out of it

I have pretty much left Fb. I think that is much worse but social media is bad overall. Have you watched the social dilemma on Netflix? Interesting.

back to hockey...from the athletic and possible ufa destinations

(i like this one)

Jacob Markstrom, G, Vancouver Canucks

Talk to most goaltending experts and they set Robin Lehner and Jacob Markstrom above the rest of the fray in the crowded goaltending market. Fair enough. And if, as expected, Lehner settles into Vegas, that leaves Markstrom. He’s worked doggedly to become an NHL starter and he was the Canucks’ MVP this season (our vote, not theirs). A nice fit in Vancouver to be sure but does he fit long-term with Thatcher Demko, 24, who was sensational coming on in relief of Markstrom in the playoffs? Given the cap limitations, Markstrom might have to find a new home, especially if he’s looking for the security of term and a healthy raise on the $3.66 million cap hit his expiring contract paid. And there are options. Carolina is one, but will it spend on the position having gone bargain-basement the past couple of years? We know the Canes kicked the tires on Lehner before he signed in Chicago last offseason, so maybe Markstrom appeals given his pedigree. Calgary and Edmonton both need stability between the pipes, but Edmonton can’t afford Markstrom with Mikko Koskinen at $4.5 million for two more years. The Flames are an interesting option given the rotating cast of netminders that have paraded through Calgary in recent years, which isn’t the pattern most Stanley Cup winners follow. If I’m rookie Buffalo GM Kevyn Adams and just added a solid veteran presence in Eric Staal, I have a long chat with Markstrom’s people about helping push the Sabres back into the fray with my available cap space.

Fitzmagic always turns into fitzcontract/Fitzmagic - your choice. The fact we beat fitz when he was Fitzmagic the whole game makes it a more impressive win. Fitzmagic usually wins if he stays Fitzmagic the whole game like he did vs buffalo and Jacksonville

He would be interesting, even if he resigns I would be calling Vancouver to see about Demko.

I agree, just don't think they can afford both after next year. And they have DiPietro waiting in the wings. If they resign Markstrom, Demko stock is pretty high right know.

Friedman on 31 Thoughts believes that if the Sens don't take Askarov at 5, the Devils will at 7. He says a lot of teams are wondering if New Jersey will take him there.

Friedman on the possibility of Askarov being taken high in the 1st RD: "Somebody's going to do it."

The Devils have 3 picks in the first round so I wouldn’t be surprised.

However Blackwood looks pretty good.

Governments have been buying mortgage back securities and now own almost a majority of them. They are buying that debt in order to keep mortgage rates low. Now due to interest rates being so low people are flocking to real estate, hence why the housing market has been able to stay afloat.

We are literally living in an epic sized housing and stock market bubble.

Hence my confidence in commodities in the medium to long term as even Powell has said multiple times they are going to try their best to let inflation run rampant to inflate away all of the debt they have created.

I can’t tell you when things will happen, the markets are going to do whatever they are going to do in the short term. Best we can do is react to what happens.

- Pegullaville

Pegs- interesting post and well written

Would you be more concerned with the Toronto "bubble" for property values , than say western new york?

We've been steadily growing. Not the huge swings of big cities.

Good take on the market. Interesting anyways. 👍

Canada is the worst housing bubble in the world.

Had a house in my neighborhood go for $250K over asking.

I can’t blame people though. With rates so low and inflation looming it makes sense for people to put their money into solid assets as even if there is a small crash in the long term real estate will always come back and has proven to be one of the best, if not the best, investment one can make

I like markstrom, but he's probably looking at lehner + money.

5 years 6 million a year?

Goaltending cost the Sabres the most last season in my opinion

I agree.

I’d be shocked if the Sabres didn’t address the goaltending situation in some way shape or form
