At the same time, though, it's a $6 million cap hit in those first two seasons if you don't buy him out. The only reason I suggest it might happen is if the Pegulas are looking to save cash. It would be more of a real dollars move than a cap dollars move.

Paying pietro for his previous success in the nhl is a bad idea. It’s like when we paid okposo based on his previous 3 years with the islanders.

If I am overpaying. I want it to be a player with high upside and a future. Like the Eichel deal sort of. Pay for future high end production.

I’m Not overpaying did a guy on the downside of his career with lots of miles.

I get what you are saying, but there is a chasm in performance and ability between Pietrangelo and Okposo (when the Sabres signed him).

We defended well because of the LOG line.

Larry and Girgensons are leaving and that will definitely impact our defence unless we get suitable replacements.

LOC line...

Lazar
Okoposo
Clifford

And you need to fix line 3....

Kahun. 3C. Cozens.

And line 2.

Skinner. Staal. Tage (currently)

And 1RD and 2LD..,.

Tage-Larry Lazar-Okposo

If they add a guy like Haula/Soderberg and move a D for a RW it doesn't look too bad

If you're trading Risto and Monty, there'd better be a top 6 RW coming back in one of those deals.

- Powerslave

Well in that scenario I was taking Pietrangelos cap hit into consideration.

I would assume in that case Risto and Montour would be dealt for prospects and futures to stay cap compliant

Cap schmap. One can be dealt for futures, the other gets us a nice, warm RW.

Who ya got?

Pietrangelo's is pretty elite hes one of the players I see playing in his 40's

But 20m on the blue line will hurt

If Dahlin is the real deal, why would the sabres need two No.1's? Especially with a top-10 defense featuring a bum logging top minutes and a coach who sux?

Asking for a friend.

Dreger on TSN1050 says Winnipeg can't afford to pay an elite winger upwards of $9M+ AAV while having weaknesses down the middle and on the blueline.

Dreger repeats, teams just don't believe Laine is available but he very much is. Expects things to heat up soon.

But the Sabres: let's take two 9 and 7 who aren't elite and take another 9 for sh*ts and giggles

Everyone under the sun is reporting that Laine is the man that is on the move in order to upgrade the defence and down the middle in Winnipeg.

Send them Montour and Risto for all I care.

Then you can move Laine back to his original LW position (yes I’m aware he’s a right handed shot) and let him ride shot gun with Eichel and Reinhart.

Toss Soderberg a one year deal.

Laine-Eichel-Reinhart
Skinner-Staal-Kahun
Olofsson-Soderberg-Cozens
Clifford-Lazar-Okposo

Dahlin-Pietrangelo
McCabe-Joker
Bryson-Miller
Borgen

Ullmark
Hutton

Some work to do to address the defensive depth and goaltending but that’s a pretty productive start.

Now where we at, cap wise? 😂

Can we add DeMelo on D?

Idk I woke up from my nap 😂😂

We got better odds of seeing Risto extended and Montour moved for prospects and picks then anything else.

I was just playing around with Powerslave.

I think there is a negative chance pietrangelo comes here and any of those scenarios happen.

Realistically though I do see us upgrading in goal, adding a LHD, and adding another couple of top 9 forwards up front.

Craig Smith is not returning to Nashville.

He’d be a really good fit here. Won’t command top dollar like the bigger names out there but he provides every bit of the same impact.

I’d love for Buffalo to target him. He’s my ideal target not Pietrangelo

Can't wait to see how great those 2nd rounders impact our team this year, or next year, or the year after.
