The Sabres made a management change this off-season. Jason Botterill, the man who drafted you, is gone. What has been the message from his replacement, Kevyn Adams?

"Just to work as hard as I can to make sure I'm there next season and do whatever it takes to give myself the best chance to be a part of the Sabres team."

At this point, Cozens is firmly in the driver's seat for 20-21. If he doesn't make the team, it's all on him.

I wouldn't mind seeing Olo and Cozens together 5v5 on a lower line giving them lower mins 5v5 and more time on the PP ala the old goat head teams.

Whatever bro, trade him for a 33 year old 5.3 mil RW on a 5 year contract who scored 33 pts last year. You are a Reinhart, Skinner and every other current Sabre, besides Risto who punches or something, who leads them to the bottom 5 GENIUS. Tell me more.
- GilPerreault11

Hornqvist has 3 years left.

Matheson has 6 years left.

They are trading 3 years of a poopty contract for 6 years.

Hornqvist also still has value as a middle 6 winger for now also.

It’s all about getting out of a bad contract.

If you could move 3 years of Okposo for 1 Year of someone else would you not be happy ?

No one wants Hornqvist.

Point is these D men (even really bad ones) are moved at will yet we have one who's been on the block for three years, wants to be traded, probably has a smidge of value left and he's still here.

- sbroads24

Odds of d men departing this offseason from best chance to worst chance - Miller, Montour, Risto

This wouldn't be my order. I agree with you we should finally move on from Risto but ralph seemingly likes him. I dont think he cares for Miller and Miller makes good cash. Im betting on a miller for young cheap winger trade

All depends if he can hang with the upper half of opposing competition. Between Skinner/Olofsson and Staal, you're not really getting any (much) defensive reliability. They'll have to be electric offensively, as a trio, for that line to stick.

That's the frustrating part.

Miller will probably go and he easily is the best bang for buck guy on that list

If Miller and Montour both go for spare picks and Risto stays....Just incompetence all around

4th line getting 10 5v5 mins is easing in my book personally. Unless they get another center somewhere.
Edit: but yes I do want him eased in as much as possible but hes probably a better center than what hes with... could always put kahun at center to start

It is of high debate how much of an upgrade Matheson is for the Penguins defense.

They just signed 2 LHD's this year, and they have another one in Dumoulin that they like, along with the strange Jack Johnson signing.

Matheson gives them 5 total LHD's.

Matheson is better than Jack Johnson, but he is measurably worse than Dumoulin, Marcus Pettersson, and Juuso Riikola, although Riikola played half as many even strength minutes.

Are they going to play Matheson on the 3rd pair and send Jack Johnson to outer space? Are they going to have Matheson play his off side as an RHD on their 2nd pair over John Marino, who they seem to really like?

- kingcong39

Capfriendly has Matheson as an RD. Is that correct? If so, Shultz is a UFA and if they let him walk (maybe they feel he will command more $ than Matheson) that would slot Matheson in on the 3rd pair with Johnson in place of Ruhwedel. If that's the case than to me that is an upgrade.

He did though ? Lol That was WWE move

Petersson tried to turn his back as Matheson was about to hit him, Matheson put his hand on his shoulder and stopped him from turning his back. This put Petersson off balance as Matheson hit him. After Matheson put him into the boards, you could see him look over his shoulder and realize that he left the net front unguarded (again), as he starts to skate away he pushed off of Petersson (who he wasn’t even looking at) Petersson was off his skates from the hit and went down like a ton of bricks. It was not a “body slam”. Incident was way overblown.

That would be a waste to have him on the 4th line I dont want a Scrub trying to take him out..

He either should be with staal to Be a sponge or find a vet center on th we 3rd ljne with him

The PIT FLA trade still hasn't gone through because Hornqvist can't be reached for approval. (frank)ing brilliant.

Gotta love Jimmy Ruth and his pre-jacks.
