It’s not really about salaries, though. They just can’t lose him from their defense corps, they would have to find someone to fill the huge hole they’d now have at RD.
It would have to be an offer worth creating that hole.

He's still going to cost in terms of picks and/or prospects. You just might get another good player thrown in that has salary and a bit of term, or even more term and the cost is diminished. Maybe a contract with most salary paid and a high cap hit goes to Florida as you take on real dollars.

You're talking about acquiring a legit #1D candidate. I realize you have Dahlin, as we have Hughes. Pretty much two teams that would love that type of top pairing Dman.
