I think it was a good trade, but be realistic. The Wild were a better team than tue Sabres last year, yet they had Staal and were still not very good. It was a good trade and wont hurt them at all, but don’t expect this trade to propel them anywhere closer to a playoff team. They are still a long ways off and this fan base is notorious for over valuing its new players over the summers only to realize they are/were dead wrong by seasons end. I get the excitement but ....

all points taken...however, sliding staal in at 2C allows for some flexibility in the top-9...it's not like the sabres are devoid of talent...jack is the centerpiece so, unlike his role with the wild, staal won't need to shoulder top-line duties...reinhart has had three consecutive 20-goal seasons and is on the precipice of being a 60-65 point winger...skinner had a bad season but he's a 25-30 goal scorer...olofsson had 20+22 in 54 games, made all rookie team and may have been in the Calder conversation if not for his injury...

putting staal in the top-six fills in five spots with quality players and allows 19 yr. old center Dylan Cozens either play a 3C role or possibly top-six on the wing...

is that enough for the playoffs?...probably not quite but it pushes them further in that direction

That’s a reasonable take. We will have to see how the extended layoff affects older players. He’ll probably be able to maintain because he’s a superior athlete.

We are not paying Pietrangelo anything close to 8 or more a year, people need to let that go.

Terry the Fan boy. Franking the team again... just what we need a $10 mill d man when Dahlin and joker will need deals soon and you still have to sign Samson, Olo Kahun. While needing a 2RW, 2LD, 3C, G and some Larrys while still holding too many d men... Pietrangelo doesn’t make sense.

He's not close to 10 a year and they won't pat him that. My uncle's friend with the Sabres hasn't been paid since June. I guess Pegula ran out of oil wells to dig.

It sounds as though Adams is indeed looking into adding to his front office (AGM). He’s had a conversation with a few people to this point.

This is my bold pick of the top 10. Most people have Anton Lundell just outside of the top 10. However, the Sabres need help at center and I think they value what he brings to the table. His defense is poetry in motion and he has every tool you want to see in a franchise center. There are some questions about his offensive upside, but I believe if the Sabres are smart with him, he might wind up being one of the top five players from this draft.
