IDK about that. He was playing pretty well for us when we limited his minutes. When he upped to 24/25 a night that's when the brain started going out again.

What coach is resisting playing Ristolainen a lot of minutes at even strength and overall?

None have done it yet.

Well then did he switch, cause it has him playing LW with Henrique and Silfverberg at RW

Looks like they have him as an RW on that line.

Haha fair, but my point is if that restraint is put in place, he can be a very serviceable #4. Need a strong RHD in front of him that can minute munch and get him to the appropriate amount.

Since nobody is doing that, he's not a serviceable number 4. He's a bad number 2.

Also, it's highly debatable how much better he actually played based on how much he was still giving up chances against compared to his offense declining due to the lack of power play time, which incidentally is what the Ducks need (PP RHD).

Nobody is doing that because nobody (meaning Buffalo) has had a Manson in front of him that can log those minutes. I mean, if you really feel that way, which I'm not saying you don't, we should sell him for a 4th and be done with it. After all he's a bad number 4, so presumably the issues would still be present if he was playing 12 min a night as a #6.

On top of the issues still existing, he would also be taking up $5.4M in cap space in that role, which is far from ideal.

I wouldn't go as far as trading him for a 4th because he's not horrible or a cap dump, but I would definitely trade him for futures to open up that cap space for a better defender or an impact forward.

I mean you can't say he's a bad number 2 and that when played in a number 4 role still is bad and also hold that he's not a cap dump.. Those things can't coexist simultaneously. Either he would be a serviceable number 4, like I implied, or he is a straight up cap dump or horrible or any negative about a player with his salary and his short comings.

It’s frustrating,” Nash conceded to Sportsnet on Friday. I wish I had a few playoff games when I was young, like Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf, without having all the pressure and just playing games while the best hockey in the world is playing. I think it would have helped me to have this experience for the rest of my career. “

“I can understand [Eichel], but he must believe in the process [de reconstruction]said Nash. I spent nine years at Columbus and I believed in the process. But at one point, I watched my career go by having played only four playoff games …. “

“The advice I have for him would be to be patient, to believe in the process and to lead the people around him in this battle by showing them how much he wants to win the championship.”

Sure they can, when you are talking about the opinions of multiple GM's and others that are part of each NHL teams management.

Because I believe he's a bottom pairing defenseman with serious issues actually playing defense does not mean all other teams do, and more importantly, it does not mean I am just going to dump him for a 4th round pick without considering what others may think of him.

Man it's not like the whole world hasn't listened to what others have said about him.. 7 years, a botched trade where the GM basically says I love everything about him, then I looked at his analytics and poof, realized he's garbage. My guess, we have to take what would be an equally questionable contract at this point. Hence why AH would be a good target. Because while he's a 45/50 point center, his salary and years left make it at least a questionable contract. But I think you might find that many, if not all, hold the same belief that he can be utilized in a lower capacity and have success.

I agree, and that's why the switch in picks from 8th overall to 6th overall is there, to balance out the added 2 years in contract length and $400K more in salary the next 2 seasons.

get on it, gmkark...four more years left at a $5M cap-hit, with only $17M in salary over the next four seasons...30-goal scorer with the cats, three-time 20-goal scorer with vegas...plays that intense, uptempo game and at 29 yr.s old, is still in his prime...

Askarov looks absolutely amazing.

He’s ahead of where Carter Hart is at this stage of the development.

Definitely has elite potential. I just don’t know how I’d feel about that with UPL and Portillo in the fold and our lack of any firepower up front.
