You have yet to make a good argument for Larsson leaving being a good thing besides you're just tired of seeing him. Which is a pretty bad justification.
The crazy thing is, swapping Larsson for Staal is a net loss.
We have no one to handle tough minutes. And no Curtis Lazar can't remotely do what Larsson does - sbroads24
Broads you have gone too far with this one.
Larsson is A GREAT 4th liner at $1.8m, but that is as far as it goes. Move off the 4th line or paying him more decreases his value...not increases it .
Give Lazar time like Larsson had the benefit of. |

Ooofff. If the ducks hold 1.8 mill. Yes, I do it. 100%
He’s 30. So not out of his prime just yet. - Sabretooth9
I think his contract is why you get to upgrade from the 8th overall to the 6th overall, as that balances out the contract disparity between Henrique and Ristolainen. |

It's not that hard to figure out. Eichel takes the tough matchups a la Sidney Crosby, Staal and Skinner feast in the wake a la Malkin, and then you assemble a bottom six that is balanced enough to occasionally score and not puke all over themselves in the defensive zone.
My God it'll be ok when Larsson leaves. I promise. - jcragcrumple
It will be, if they replace him properly.
Saddling Eichel with D zone responsibilities while asking him to be our offensive superstar is a mind numbing game plan.
They have 2 offensive minded centers and a rookie.

The Bills released Jason Croom from the practice squad, because like I said before training camp, they're not going to keep someone they don't want because he's dating some girl that doesn't even live in Buffalo full or part time. |

If Larsson gets a 4 year deal for $3M per, his value does diminish unless he can produce more offense that results in goals. |

Isn't the goal in hockey to score more ?
Just wondering - GERBE!!!75PTS
No, the goal in hockey is to score more goals then the other team.
Goal differential is what matters.
The Dallas Stars scored less goals then the Buffalo Sabres this year and are still playing hockey.
Ask Leaf and Panthers fans what it’s like to score a boat load of goals while subsequently not being able to defend or get any saves from their goaltenders.
Tampa is elite at both. They can score at will but have two dominant 200 foot centers and the best d-man in the league with a Vezina caliber goaltender.
Dallas is the rich mans version of that Kreuger attempted to do this year. Masters of winning the 2-1 and 3-2 games which you need to do in the playoffs.
Playoff hockey and regular season hockey are two different sports. Run and gun is definitely more entertaining and get you to the dance but you won’t last long. |

I somewhat agree, unless they really want to cut cap long term and they have a dire need at the RHD position.
A deal like has been mentioned is only possible because the Sabres are ideally positioned at 8th overall to get a quality player with the depth in the top 9 in this draft. |

I think Adams is smart enough to realize that. He wants balance, his top guys are heavy into analytics, and he's a new wave GM. Not that it even matters, Lou Lam is as old as they come and he got his team to the conf finals. |

I mean you could switch Staal with Monahan and we’d still be in the same predicament, actually even worse off defensively.
How they replace Larsson remains to be seen. If it is by throwing a two year offer at Haula or Gally though then they better be on the look out for a couple of 200 foot wingers to compensate - Pegullaville
get a defensively solid 3RW to play with Cozens at 3C initially. done. |

Maybe we should pay a guy who scores a lot more and is a bit less responsible defensively, hence a net positive. |

Yeah I was over on the Ducks blog and talked about that deal
8 and Risto for
6 and Henrique with 400,000 retained. Said they would do that deal. Wish I could fax the paperwork in. |

I think so too. I was responding to Jcrag and his never ending disrespect of the GOAT Larry.
Larry is good. We need more good. Swapping 36 year old good for 28 year old good isn't that....good |

He also traded a 1st, 2nd and a 3rd for JG Pageau at the deadline.
Pageau and Cizikas handle the defensive responsibility, Nelson is no slouch either.

This whole thing has gotten completely ridiculous.
Most people here weren't as concerned about how the Sabres were going to replace ROR in 2018 as they are about replacing Selke Larry 2020.
It'll be fine. |
