For a lot of Teams, a lot of bad injuries too, well not that any injury is good. - Buff36
The folks pushing for preseason games are getting ammo with all these injuries. |

In fairness, it always looks good if guys hit their potential. Can probably skip the center pick then because Mitts still has a 2nd line potential NHLe score.
That being said, BPA all the way. If they think that's Lundell, go for it. Right? We're not ready to be picking based on need are we? - RhinoFan
Can never have enough centers.
I feel you can move the assets for a winger if need be, much harder to find guys down the middle so we most likely have to draft them |

Injuries are apart of the game.
This was the year to really evaluate Lock and see if he could be the man moving forward.
Looks like he’ll be able to return in a few weeks but there is a 10% chance at the playoffs at best. - Pegullaville
Very much a part of the game, just wanted to see what Lock had to offer. |

“To elaborate on what I heard earlier in the Summer... internally the organization feels a lot of pressure to upgrade quickly around Eichel. The sense I got was there will be roster turnover. Watch Erik Haula as a potential middle-6 center target with the #Sabres”

This would be solid. 2A/2B center in Staal and Haula. Would need a 2LHD and an upgrade in net, with a 2/3 RW, possibly Cozens. |

Centers are more important than wingers, true.
I worded it poorly, but was really asking something a bit different. Would you take a lesser center because they're a center or is BPA the best course given our team?
So if it's Holtz or Lundell:
Lundell 85 "potential"
Holtz 90 "potential"
Who's your guy? |

I’m all for Haula. We’d just need a couple of 200 foot wingers to make up defensively.
Also need to get a lot better goaltending. |

I am excited, there's going to be a lot of changes and things going on here. Lots of RFAs, lots of cap space and obviously numerous holes.
Either way, Eichel - Staal - Haula - Curtis GD Lazar sounds like a big upgrade from last year. |

Would be nice to just bring back Johan Larsson himself.
I think he would be more universally liked if our 2nd line did it’s job and scored goals. - Pegullaville
I agree. The best 3rd line Center is right there under their noses. Larson is easily the best choice. |

Haula is a good backup plan to Cozens if he can't handle a 3C role.
Haula is bad though |

Haula is not bad
He isn't good defensively but if he continues to produce his average he is a fine 3rd liner in a scoring role (not a typical 3rd line shutdown line)
His injury slowed down his progression, he was coming off a career year with Vegas and then got hurt
He was a 40 point pace player last season |

When everyone wanted him last year, I was against the idea. I was against it because everyone wanted to plug him into the 2C role. He would not cut it there. 3C would be fine, and if he's reasonably priced why not. |

He had a great in 17/18, hasn't been good since.
He's a case of a player who's small offiensive upside not out-weighing him being poor defensively.
He was the worst defensive forward on CAR by a large margin

His expected goals for % was 2nd last on CAR among forwards.
His Xgoals against/60 was last among CAR forwards
He was really bad last year |

Hence why I said a signing of a strong two way winger would have to accompany Haula.
Kahun-Haula-Fast offers offensive capability while ability to act as a shut down line |

I know Danault is a good defensive center but give me the established 30-50 goal scorer.

On this team? Danault 100%
Laine plays Eichel's spot on the PP. We don't need that guy. We could definitely use Danault as a checking center. Im not making a draft point here. Just a roster point |

Now swap Danualt’s name with Lundell and Laine with Holtz and that is my reasoning for going with Lundell at 8 if I have to choose between the two of them |

In the example given both are pretty established as what they are as a NHL player so definitely Laine.
Buffalo needs a RW since the cupboards bare so unless they trade for or sign a decent RW with term I say yes Holtz even though he may be a couple years away.
If it's about defense just give Larry some money |
