I was told Lazar is awful. I don't have a firm opinion either way. I liked seeing him on the ice, though.
- TheSabresTaco

Ya, I get roasted from a couple of posters who are adamant that Lazar isn't there yet as a defensive forward, but who refuse to acknowledge that he could learn the techniques and tactics...like Larsson did over the last several years.
I agree he isn't there yet, but remain convinced he has the skillset to be superior with his speed and tenacity, plus he plays with an edge as well...just gotta give him the chance.

Draft based on talent not based on height/weight.

That’s how guys like Point and Gaudreau get snatched up in the mid rounds and guys like Lawson Crouse get drafted high and are useless.

Address size in FA and via trade with known commodities and swing for the fences with your lottos.

Someone like Maroon would work well for the 4th line this offseason.

Wouldn’t mind Clifford either.

I'm just generally confused as to what Lazar did that people liked?

He wasn't flying around hitting, he wasn't good offensively, wasn't getting tough shut down minutes.

He's fine as a 13th forward, idk

Why isn't Russel Wilson considered to be among the elite qbs?

Moulds is the best bills wr.

- Slump Buster

He’s not?

I had Wilson as the second best QB in the league in yesterday’s post. I assumed everyone thought that

I think he fits peoples' picture of what a 4th liner is. He doesn't hit a ton, but gets a couple per game, plays like a pest and draws penalties.

We can do better. As abysmal as Asplund was last year, I'm hoping the light flicks on there. He's still got potential IMO.

Josh Allen ran a 4.7 40 at the combine

I want to see Gerbe be under 5 seconds
...

Allen has been carrying this team, I would like to see some sort of running game (eventually they'll need it)

My only complaint on offense is coming out flat in the 3rd quarter yet again. They need to figure out a way to overcome that.

The defense showed me two things, how important Milano and Edmunds are and they need to fine a CB opposite Tre White, Wallace couldn't handle their TE (dude is legit, I wish the Bills had a TE that didn't have butter fingers)

Next week is a HUGE test with the Rams looking good again and lets see how the OL holds up against that front of the Rams and Aaron Donald

Good post.
Add in that he is Economical at say $800k as a 4th liner, rather than bringing back Larsson for $2.5m to $3.0m. Especially when your 4RW costs $6M, the GM has to find savings somewhere...that $2M becomes important. Save another ~$1m at 4LW with Asplund rather than Girgs and they have made good strides financially speaking.

Valid point. A $10-12M 4th line is not good in a cap era. I think Larsson brings more, but if we're doing this internal cap thing, I'd rather spend in the top9.

Lazar? WTF? Some more glowing reviews of one of OURS. He isn't very good defensively or offensively. This crap team gets more love than it deserves. They can do better than him for the 4th line center.

There will be many cut loose due to salary this offseason from other teams. They will pick one up and the time spent posting about Curtis GD Lazar is going to look pathetic.

I literally wrote, "we can do better"

Of course that's the case. The question is how much better can you do without giving up assets and paying $1m or less in salary.

I'm not wasting my time writing about that AHL tweener. This group has written way too much about him. He'll be the 13th forward or in Rochester. if he is a regular, the Sabres will be out of the playoffs, Jack won't be happy and then we will see what happens.

Sounds like the Sabres better get Crosby, McDavid, Matthew's, MaKinnon, etc...
Or else Jack won't be happy.

For the role he plays, Ristolainen provides as much of a boost to the Sabres chances of being good as Lazar does with the role he was asked to play.

In other words, the Sabres will be out of the playoffs again if Ristolainen is on the roster.

Our 4th line isn't going to dictate whether or not we make the playoffs or Jack stays. Our ability to get a top6 winger, a goalie and resign our RFAs to good deals, will be the overarching factor.

That said, don't respond if you don't want to. I didn't quote you or something, you injected yourself into AHL tweener talk.

You don't have to like Lazar, but he was a breath of fresh air as a pest and a guy would crash the net and mix it up a bit. The Sabres need more of that and less perimeter Veseys and Shearys

I’m big on Lazers. His upside far exceeds the parts of his game he needs to work on. He was one of the most exciting Sabres to watch on a handful of nights

I don't wanna incite a back and forth here over 4th liners, but how exactly was Lazar a breathe of fresh air? He was measurably inconsequential, and barely played.

The 4th line was pretty important last year. Also, they were the worst PK team last year with "Selke" contender Larsson and they will need a center who can kill penalties and the lead one is not going to be GD Curtis Lazar. It won't be Jack so his minutes go up to 30 + a night and so that he is in shot lanes where he can block close point shots, I'd have to check but I'm pretty sure Staal isn't a penalty killer and he is getting slower; Mitts is learning how to play D and center in the NHL maybe he could get some time but not the primary killer, Cozens is not going to kill penalties so they will get another center either via trade or FA. Logic.
